The “calling of God” is the doorway into election, where the believer has the opportunity to receive God’s highest and best.

a. The invitation of God the Father to believe in Jesus Christ.
b. The election of the believer where God wills His highest and best by giving the believer the opportunity to participate in the greatest victory ever won.
EPH 4:1 “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.”
What does it mean to walk “worthy of the calling” or that “God may count you worthy of your calling?”
The “calling of God” is the doorway into election where the believer has the opportunity to receive God’s highest and best.
“Worthy” – aor-act-subj – axios = to be deemed worthy, due something, to be fit for something, or suitable for something.
EPH 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
Your calling is the doorway into election where the believer has the opportunity to receive God’s highest and best.
COL 2:14 having cancelled out the certificate of debt which was against us by means of the decrees, and which[certificate of debt] was hostile to us and He [by means of the decrees] has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross.
COL 2:15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
Now that the Lord has overcome Satan, sin and death, we have been called to live the spiritual life through the fulfillment of the dramatic seven chorus line whereby our personal drama brings glory to God and we fulfill our personal sense of destiny.
To walk “worthy of the calling” or to be counted worthy of your calling = to receive the highest and best that God has elected you to receive, beginning experientially the moment that He called or invited you into the kingdom of His dear Son.
“Worthy” – axiose = to be deemed worthy, due something, fit for something, or suitable for something, is an excellent description of the blessings and the inheritance of every Church-age believer.
2CO 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
REV 3:4 But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white [Uniform of Glory]; for they are worthy.
REV 22:12 Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.
The means of God calling you is through the Gospel to receive the glory of TLJC, 2TH 2:14.
We are called into fellowship with TLJC –
1CO 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are also called into His kingdom and glory, 1TH 2:12.
We are also called into eternal life –
1TI 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called,
PHI 3:10-11 that I may come to know Him, and the power of [behind] His resurrection and the participation of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;
PHI 3:11 if, in some way, I may attain to the resurrection away from the dead ones.
JOH 10:10 The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.
ROM 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
To take hold of eternal life to which your were called = an extraordinary peace that God desires for us to experience even in time.
God has a plan for our lives which enables us to embrace eternal life despite all of the natural opposition, and as a part of that plan He also gives us the ability to take hold of eternal life to which we were called.
If you stay with the plan of God, you will have times when you will experience death to the self-life and then the experience of the newness of life, resurrection life.
JOH 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
PHI 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We do not always understand the will of God, but to trust His sovereignty completely is another matter that leads us to take hold of eternal life to which your were called.
As we deepen in our total abandonment to Christ, outward things (persecution, injustice, and even what is perceived to be the unfairness of God and the displeasure of God) are things no longer perceived nor reacted to.
To take hold of eternal life to which you were called will allow us to experience fantastic inner happiness, PHI 4:4.
It will cause us not to be worried and give us fantastic inner peace,
PHI 4:6-7.
It will give us a fantastic positive attitude toward life, PHI 4:8.
It will allow us to be totally content in any and every circumstance of life, PHI 4:11-13.
It will give us phenomenal confidence that no matter what the odds are against, God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, PHI 4:19.
To take hold of eternal life to which you were called = we will experience deliverance from the bondage of the world and the stronghold of the cosmic system.
We are also called into His sufferings, 1PE 2:21. When we “make our calling and election sure or a spiritual reality,” we will be willing to go through undeserved suffering without murmuring or complaining about the situation.
We are also called to inherit blessings, 1PE 3:9.
When we “make our calling and election sure or a spiritual reality,” we do not seek revenge or become antagonistic toward those who attack us.
We are also called into eternal glory, 1PE 5:10.
We are called into liberty and freedom –
GAL 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only {do} not {turn} your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
We are called into peace –
COL 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
We have also been called out of darkness, 1PE 2:9.
ROM 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.
HEB 9:15 And for this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were {committed} under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
