NINE REASONS WHY PRAYER IS NOT ANSWERED
Nine Reasons Why Prayer is not Answered.
(1) - Prayer is not answered because of a lack of faith: Matt 21:22, "If you
believe, (have faith) you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Rom
10:17, "Faith comes by the means of listening, listening to the Word of God being
taught."
(2) - Prayer is not answered because of mental attitude sins: Psalm 66:18, "If I regard
iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."
(3) - Prayer is not answered because of selfishness: James 4:2-3, "You want
something but you don't get it. you kill and covet, but you cannot have what you
want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you
may spend what you get on your own pleasures."
(4) - Prayer is not answered because of the lack of grace orientation, or the lack of
compassion: Proverbs 21:13, "If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too
will cry out and not be answered."
(5) - Prayer is not answered because of the lack of domestic tranquility: I Pet
3:7, "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and
treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the
gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." This refers to the
home, and the problems between a husband and wife that are not being resolved.
(6) - Prayer is not answered because of self-righteousness and pride: Job 35:12-
13, "He does not answer when men cry out because of the arrogance of the
wicked. Indeed, God does not listen to their empty pleas; the Almighty pays no
attention to it."
(7) - Prayer is not answered because of a lack of obedience to the Word of God: I John
3:22, "......we receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands
and do what pleases him." "...study to show yourselve approved to God." And II
Pet 3:18 says, "...but grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ......"
(8) - Prayer is not answered because of failure to comply with the will of God: I John
5:14, "This is the assurance we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to his will, he hears us."
(9) - Prayer is not answered because of the failure to be filled with the Holy Spirit at
the point of prayer: Eph 6:18, "....pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds
of prayers and requests....." Also our passage in Jude 20.
