When Compassion Becomes a Weapon | COMPASSION 3
In this Bible study, we continue our study of The Doctrine of Compassion by examining what Scripture teaches about true biblical compassion versus counterfeit compassion.
God's compassion is never rooted in human emotion alone—it flows from His perfect character, grace, and righteousness. We will explore how genuine compassion motivates forgiveness, restoration, healing, divine good, and gracious living, while also warning against the danger of pseudo-compassion—a false compassion that manipulates, flatters, and exploits others for personal gain.
Together we'll examine examples from the lives of the prodigal son, David, Absalom, and ultimately the Lord Jesus Christ, who perfectly demonstrated the Father's compassion. We'll also discover why God disciplines those He loves, why compassion never compromises truth, and how believers are called to reflect God's heart without falling prey to emotional manipulation.
In this message you'll learn:
• What biblical compassion really is.
• How compassion produces divine good.
• The relationship between compassion, forgiveness, and restoration.
• The difference between God's compassion and human sentimentality.
• How to recognize counterfeit compassion and manipulation.
• Why Jesus Christ is the perfect example of true compassion.
