Point 10. The Believer’s Responsibility and Means to Rest.

Rest is the result of faith being applied in your life.
Faith is a technique that demands food and exercise.

They have their spiritual senses trained or they have learned to distinguish between the good or honorable from the evil or useless.

ISA 5:20 They call evil good, and good evil; they substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; they substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

When you have doctrine and you can distinguish evil trends in the Christianity community, you will be controversial when you say that it is evil.

Self-discipline gives you good manners, poise, thoughtfulness of others, so that all believers have the opportunity to fulfill the function of perception and metabolization as ordained of God for the local church.

We all have an X amount of routine in our life.
Routine is designed to help you organize your life.
Routine is very important in life because “routine” prepares you for what is not routine.
Routine also prepares you for disaster and sudden catastrophe.

Godliness is simply a lifestyle for the “spiritual” believer. It requires self-discipline and organization to execute the PPOG even if you have Bible doctrine as your number 1 priority.

The reason why we have exercise used as an analogy to godliness is because “exercise” requires self-discipline.

You have to be consistent for exercise to be profitable.

“Godliness” is the result of consistency in the perception of doctrine. Your happiness depends on godliness or spiritual living. Godliness or spiritual living tones up the spiritual life.

Self discipline = Dedication, Commitment, Instruction, Discipline. The word discipline means to drive on or something performed or practiced in order to develop skill.

1. Self-discipline
2. Assembling together
3. Concentrating on the teaching
4. Good manners
5. Silence

6. Not commenting
7. Not disturbing
8. Not moving-around
9. Objectivity
10. Persistence in spite of distraction

PRO 8:30 Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him,
PRO 8:34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at my doorposts.

PSA 61:8 So I will sing praise to Thy name forever, That I may pay my vows day by day.
PSA 72:15 “Daily shall He be praised”

PSA 119:97 O how I love Thy doctrine, it is my meditation all the day.
PSA 119:164 Seven times a day I will praise Thee because of your righteous judgments.
PSA 1:2 But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and in His Law he meditates day and night.

ISA 8:9 My Lord I have called daily upon You.
LUK 19:47 - TLJC taught daily in the temple.
LUK 9:23 - He commanded us to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily.

The apostle Paul ceased not to warn everyone night and day, Acts 20:31.

2CO 4:16 - our inward man, the new creature, is renewed day by day.
ACT 2:46 - the early church continued daily with one accord in the temple.
ACT 5:42 - they ceased not to preach and teach about TLJC daily in the temple.

ROM 14:5-8 - the mature believer regards everyday as the Lord’s day.

The Bereans were known as noble individuals because they searched the scriptures daily,
ACT 17:11.

The believers’ job is to exhort each other daily, HEB 3:13.
PSA 90:12 Teach us to number our days completely, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Your consistency in coming to Bible class,
Your consistency in taking in doctrine,
Your consistency in metabolizing doctrine,
will be the basis for the greatest capacity in life.

The distribution of your escrow blessings in time and in eternity.

1. They always blame others for the present condition.
2. They make themselves miserable under the principle of self-induced misery.

Entering - aor-act-inf - eiserchomai = to go into or to enter into a condition or a state of something.

To come short of it =
You don’t believe it,
You don’t apply it,
You don’t live in it.

Refusing to enter into His rest will not stop God from being glorified, but it will rob you from all that God has for you.

The Lord constantly pours out His grace, and under the principle of logistics He provides everything that we need, but it seems that so many believers constantly find excuses for going AWOL.

Was not united - per-pass-part - sugkerannumi = to mix together or to agree; i.e. spiritual metabolism.

The prerequisite for entering into God’s rest and the most important thing that needs to take place in your life after salvation is that you must be filled with His Holy Spirit.

If you have failed the faith-rest test, the only road back, and the only way to victory is to do one thing, sit and learn.

The greatest virtue that you will ever discover in the Christian life is knowledge of doctrine.

NUM 13:30 - when Caleb and Joshua saw the giants in the promise land, Caleb said, let us go at once and possess the land.

To be at rest does not mean to be passive or not motivated in your heart; it means that you’ll live in that rest and reveal that rest to all.

The giants more than likely will not be removed in your life because the Lord is greater than the giants, and He wants you to know it.

It took just one stone to kill the giant Goliath, but David picked up five, why?

1SA 17:40 And he took his stick in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in the shepherd’s bag which he had, even in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand; and he approached the Philistine.

1SA 17:4, Goliath
2SA 21:16, Ishbi-benob
2SA 21:18, Sibbecai
2SA 21:19, Goliath the Gittite
2SA 21:20, [No name-perhaps Big Foot] the one who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

2SA 21:22 these four were born to the giant in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

Because the Lord always prepares us for the future.
