THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 40. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HYPOSTATIC UNION. JOH 8:52-58; LUK 4:1-12

The Angelic Conflict Part 40. The Importance of the Hypostatic Union.

Wednesday, March 8, 2006

Point 9. The Importance of the Hypostatic Union.
Hypostatic union = in the person of Jesus Christ are two natures, undiminished deity and true humanity in one person forever.

Sometimes our Lord would say things from His deity only, JOH 8:58.

Sometimes the Lord would speak from His humanity and not His deity, JOH 19:28.

We have the three unique temptations from Satan to our Lord Jesus Christ during the hypostatic union.

The first one is the temptation to rely on self rather than the ministry of Holy Spirit, MAT 4:1-4, LUK 4:1-4.

“Was led up” - aor-pass-ind - ago = the humanity of Christ received the action of the verb as a part of evidence testing; He was led by the Holy Spirit.

When a believer reaches spiritual maturity, Satan is permitted by God to cross-examine every witness that God enters into the historical phase of the angelic conflict.

Satan is actually given a tremendous amount of leeway including even taking away health, prosperity, causing misunderstanding and loss of friends, almost any kind of disaster.

God will not put on us more than what we can bear, 1CO 10:13!

Through residence, function, and momentum in the PPOG under the same power system we have, our Lord’s humanity advanced through the various stages of spiritual adulthood!

MAT 3:16-17 And after being baptized [the water represented the will of God the Father for the humanity of Christ], Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

Tempted - peirazo = to make proof of, to test, to scrutinize, to examine, to try or test one’s faith, virtue, or character by enticement to sin or to act independently of God.

If the humanity of Christ even sins once during this test then He cannot go to the cross and die for the sins of the whole world; therefore, He will not only be tempted like we are but He will be tempted far beyond anyone of us!

This is Satan’s attempt through cross-examination to discredit those believers who reach spiritual maturity!

The devil opens up with a verbal examination,
“Ei huios ei tou Theou” - “If you are the Son of God, and you are.”

One of Satan’s most powerful deceptions is to use truth and mix in his religious and legalistic lies.

Will TLJC who has the power to turn the stone into bread use that power and operate independently of the power of the Holy Spirit, or rely on God to meet His needs?

If Jesus Christ used His deity and His own power to satisfy His hunger by turning the stone into bread then He has stepped outside of the PPOG for His life, the power system provided by God the Holy Spirit!

It is committing the same sin that Satan did originally, choosing self-will over God’s will.

By persuading the deity of Christ to act independently of the indwelling Holy Spirit and the function in the PPOG, our Lord in hypostatic union would be acting independently of the plan of God the Father.

The doctrine of kenosis = during the dispensation of the hypostatic union, our Lord Jesus Christ voluntarily restricted the independent use of His divine attributes in compliance with the Father’s plan.

Our Lord Jesus Christ voluntarily restricted the independent use of His divine attributes, but certain functions of His deity continued to function, such as holding the universe together.

During the First Advent, TLJC depended on the provision and power of the Holy Spirit, the power of Bible doctrine, and the power of the problem-solving devices, and gave up any independent exercise of certain divine attributes while living among men with their human limitations.

Being full of grace and doctrine, JOH 1:14, the humanity of Christ extrapolated from His own soul, problem-solving devices.

He concentrated on the problem-solving devices to prevent the conversion of the outside pressure of adversity into the inside pressure of stress in the soul.

The problem-solving devises used by the humanity of Christ were: the filling of the Spirit, the faith rest drill, grace orientation, doctrinal orientation, a personal sense of destiny, personal love for God the Father, impersonal love for all mankind, and sharing the happiness of God.

Our Lord did not depend on His deity to execute the Father’s plan; He depended on the One who provided the plan.
He depended on what the Father provided.

He refused to function independently of the Father’s plan.

This is also a temptation to solve the problem of hunger by a miracle rather than the function of His own humanity and under the doctrinal principle that the Holy Spirit led Him here and God the Father will provide for Him.

As long as God the Father has not removed the suffering, He intends for the humanity of Christ to bear it!
If God does not remove it, He intends for you to bear it.

Would the humanity of Christ pass this test by refusing to use His own power independently of the plan of God?

You can leave the plan of God for your home, the details of life, marriage, business, social distraction, friends, pleasure, personal goals and ambitions, etc.

2TI 2:4 “entangled in the affairs of everyday life”
LUK 8:14 “choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life and you bring no fruit to maturity.”

Spiritual maturity + passing evidence testing = glorification of God to the maximum in the historic extension of the angelic conflict.

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 41. SATAN’S MAIN GOAL IS NOT TO GET BELIEVERS TO SIN, BUT TO BECOME INDEPENDENT FROM GOD. LUK 4:1-13; DEU 8:1-3; 2CO 12:7-10

Robert McLaughlin Bible Ministries

The Angelic Conflict. Part 41. Satan's main goal is not to get believers to sin, but to become independent from God.

Thursday, March 9, 2006

The first one is the temptation to rely on self rather than the ministry of Holy Spirit, MAT 4:1-4, LUK 4:1-4.

“Will TLJC who has the power to turn the stone into bread use that power and operate independently of the power of the Holy Spirit or rely on God to meet His needs?”

Instead of performing miracles under His own power, our Lord used the greatest power ever known in the history of the human race. He used Bible doctrine in all three parts of his testing.

When God performs a miracle, it requires only His sovereignty [His will].

When a believer uses Bible doctrine and makes correct application and advances in the plan of God through the use of that Bible doctrine, that is the greatest power and the highest function that any member of the human race can attain.

Bible doctrine is the very thinking of Jesus Christ, 1CO 2:16, and it is the word of God - a reference to God Himself, JOH 1:1.

He did not use false solutions to suffering; there are two of them that most believers use - prayer and miracles!

To pray for strength in time of suffering is absolutely blasphemous since under the PPOG, strength is provided in another way, through the power of the Spirit, ACT 1:8, and the power of the word of God, HEB 4:12.

You do not pray for a miracle or the removal of the suffering like Paul did in 2Co 12 with the thorn in his flesh!

A miracle is a false solution just as prayer is, when God provides for us suffering to bear.

It is easy for God to perform a miracle; only His volition is involved; only the sovereignty of God is involved plus His omnipotence.

It is more difficult for God to give maximum blessing to a believer because that involves the volition of the believer and faith and trust from the believer in the character and nature of God.

What does prove something is when the believer advances to spiritual maturity and can take any pressure provided by Satan.

There are allotted times in your life ordained by God for you to go through undeserved suffering -
to go “through” it!

PHI 1:29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake
2TI 2:3 Suffer hardship with {me,} as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

DEU 8:3 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

The temptation of Satan was designed to lure the humanity of Christ away from reliance upon the omnipotence of the Father for His logistical grace, and upon the omnipotence of the Holy Spirit inside the PPOG.

Satan’s main goal is not to get the believer to sin but to get the believer to become independent from God.

GEN 12:13-19 - Abraham willfully lied to deceive the Pharaoh and protect his own life.
GEN 26:7 - he committed the same sin as his father Abraham; he lived in fear of losing his life and therefore willfully lied and told the men of Gerah that Rebekah was not his wife but his sister.

GEN 25:31-33 - he was naturally crafty and sly and stole the birthright from Esau.
GEN 27:18-29 - we have a record of his master deception over his father Isaac, and yet God was faithful to him.

The Lord changed his name to Israel - “a prince with God.”

When the Lord appears in the O.T. He says, “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

EXO 2:12 - Moses willfully killed a man with his bare hands.

He made excuses to the Lord, EXO 3:11, saying that he was not fit to be used by the Lord.

JDG 6:13 - he said, I cannot go because the Lord has forsaken Israel.
JDG 6:15 - he then said, I am not fit for the job.

JDG 8:24-27 - he foolishly makes a golden ephod which becomes a snare to Israel.
JDG 14:1-3 - he kept associating with evil people, basically wild and perverted women.

He was very spiritual at times, JDG 13:25; 15:14, yet he was under the power of carnal lust.

He had a deep desire for prostitutes and then finally for a ravishing woman named Delilah.

JDG 15:4 - he was childish in his plans, yet courageous in battle, JDG 15:11-14.

1SA 21:1-10 - David willfully sinned and told a lie, and the result of his lie was that an entire city was wiped out (city of Nob).

Then he “faked madness” and made the enemy believe he was crazy, and as a result hundreds died, 1SA 2:11-18.
Then David failed in his responsibility as the king, 2SA 11:1.

While he was in Jerusalem, 2SA 11:2-27, he ended up in certain “shocking” sins.
He committed adultery, he got a man drunk, he committed murder, and he willfully lied.

2SA 6:1-13 - he did not honor the word of God.
1Ch 21 - David rejected the promises of God and even questioned the faithfulness of God.
We have his failure to forgive completely his son Absalom.

David’s son, Solomon, born from the woman he murdered for, Bathsheba, lived an excessive luxurious lifestyle,1KI 4:22-23.
He married all kinds of ungodly women, 1KI 11:1-2, lived in excessive sensuality, 1KI 11:3, even sanctioned idolatry, 1KI 11:4-7.

1Ki 19 - Elijah just had a tremendous victory, and then he ran from the threat of a woman.

Jonah - the reluctant self-centered, filled-with-hatred missionary.

These realistic portraits of the great heroes of the faith teach us to expect perfection out of no human being - including ourselves.

Perfection is found only in heaven and in the person of the perfect God-man, the Lord Jesus.

HEB 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful

We are dealing with an invisible enemy, Satan, and all of those demons that operate under his command are invisible to us!

1JO 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

All spiritual victory in the angelic conflict is related to the Word of God.

The second test that Satan put the Lord through was to test our Lord’s relationship to the plan of God for His life, LUK 4:5-8, MAT 4:8-10.

a. “Avoid the purpose of the Father’s plan for the incarnation and by-pass the cross and I’ll promote you,” says Satan.
b. “Avoid the purpose of the Father’s plan for the Second Advent - take the crown or the kingdom now!”

TLJC is pointing out to Satan that all creature obligation and loyalty is to the plan of God in the sense of serving Him!

“It shall be all yours (the kingdoms of this world)” = Satan, instead of serving God, is seeking to hinder the believer from serving God by offering the believer the things of this world.

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 42. FALSE APPLICATION OF A TRUE DOCTRINE IS A VERY SUBTLE ATTACK FROM THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS. LUK 4:1-13; PSA 91:10-12; MAR 16:17-18; MAT 23:23-24

Robert McLaughlin Bible Ministries

The Angelic Conflict. Part 42. False application of a true doctrine is a very subtle attack from the kingdom of darkness.

Friday, March 10, 2006

The first one is the temptation to rely on self rather than the ministry of Holy Spirit, MAT 4:1-4, LUK 4:1-4.
The second test that Satan put the Lord through was to test our Lord’s relationship to the plan of God for His life,
LUK 4:5-8, MAT 4:8-10.

a. “Avoid the purpose of the Father’s plan for the incarnation and by-pass the cross and I’ll promote you,” says Satan.
b. “Avoid the purpose of the Father’s plan for the Second Advent - take the crown or the kingdom now!”

The third and final test has to do with our Lord’s relationship to the word of God.

The first test had to do with our Lord’s relationship to the ministry of Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity.
The second test had to do with our Lord’s relationship to the plan of God the Father for His life, the first Person of the Trinity.
This third test has to do with our Lord’s relationship to the word of God, the second Person of the Trinity.

Pinnacle - noun pteurgion = the edge or the highest point on the temple. He took Him to the highest point, Herod’s porch, a 450 foot drop.

“If you will live by the Word of God then jump from this porch into the valley below,” Satan is now quoting PSA 91:11-12, with a false application - correct doctrine, false application!

False application of doctrine is always a distortion of scripture.

TLJC has already resisted the temptation to act independently of the Holy Spirit and the Father’s plan for the incarnation.

Satan now attacks scripture by “quoting” scripture - for the devil will distort the passage by removing it from its context and giving it a false application.

False application of a true doctrine is a very subtle attack from the kingdom of darkness.

Satan is using the scripture to tempt the humanity of Christ to act independently of the real meaning behind the scripture.

It is not part of the Father’s plan for the humanity of Christ to do an absurd and foolish thing!
God does not condone senseless and unreasonable action!

DEU 6:16 “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test”

Satan quoted scripture that did not apply and thereby he distorted scripture.

Luk 5 - TLJC quoted scripture that did apply, and He made a correct and accurate application of that scripture.

Once again our Lord used scripture; the greatest power God has ever given is Bible doctrine!

Did TLJC say, “I bind you Satan, in my name”?

JAM 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
MAT 4:11 Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Minister - diakoneo = to serve, to wait upon someone, to wait at a table and offer food and drink to the guests.

Point 1. Definition.
Point 2. The Existence of Rational Creatures, angels and humans.
Point 3. When and How the Angelic Conflict Began.
Point 4. The Two Categories of Fallen Angels Under the Command of Satan. There are operational angels and non-operational angels.

Point 6. The Satanic Plan for Offensive Action in Human History.
Point 7. The Courtroom Trial of the Angelic Conflict.
Point 8. The Strategic Victory of the Angelic Conflict.
Point 9. The Importance of the Hypostatic Union.

Point 10. The Pseudo Victory of Satan in the Original Fall of Man.

He had the power to strike down Satan and the fallen angels whom He had brought into existence through His creative act and and annihilate him or put him in prison.

The claims of Satan to equality with God and superiority in power had to have their complete trial.

God’s plan was for all the universe to see, once and for all, if it were possible for any creature whatsoever, of any rank, however exalted, to live for even a moment independent of God the Creator.

This trial, the angelic conflict, the invisible war, actually brings out a second will, namely the creature’s will over God’s will, and it takes place in time or human history!

EZE 28:15 “You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created, Until unrighteousness was found in you.”

God revealed His hatred toward the sin of rebellion by putting an ice pack around the earth and confining Satan and all of his followers to the prison of planet earth, GEN 1:1-2, 2PE 3:6,
JOB 9:5-8, JER 4:23-25,
PSA 18:7-15!

It was a judgment which was fitting for Satan and his followers because it revealed at the same time the power of God and the impotence of Satan.

By the simple Word of God the heavens and the earth were brought down into judgment and chaos.

Anyone who thinks even for a moment that he can get along without God, that he can accomplish anything in his own power, is doomed to the sensation best described as “dust in the mouth.”

It began to dawn in his darkened mind the fact that his wisdom was not omniscience, that his power was not omnipotence, that he was a creature and had no ability to create.

He had carried with him a group of angels and demons who had been willing to accept his authority and his ways, and they would learn that all of them with their combined intelligence and power would be unable to put the chaotic world together again.

He had the appetite and desire to be like God, to act like God and to possess the universe, but there was nothing but a sense of emptiness, impotence because of inability!

Every man and woman who wishes to be independent of God should know that the path of any creature who cuts loose from a surrendered dependence upon God is in the path of Lucifer.

Emptiness, inability, frustration, dust: these are the portion of the man who walks his own way.

JER 49:20; JER 50:45, Therefore hear the plan of the Lord!

One of the main problems that God has to deal with in the human race is the fact that most individuals are so stubborn and rebellious toward God’s plan for their life.

Satan, who had claimed that he would be like the Possessor of heaven and earth, was to be revealed as the bragger and boaster who could not fulfill what he claimed to be!

We are not to think of a creature “perfect in all his ways” but rather “the dragon ... that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world,” REV 12:9.

The frustration and bitterness and jealousy in this depraved being called Satan grew into an ever-increasing hatred toward God, and it fed upon itself and he became worse and worse and more depraved!

The shining of light into the waste and desolate creation must have brought Satan to instant attention.

From the very first moment when God spoke the Word that brought light shining out of darkness, Satan was aware that God was about to do something that Satan did not really understand!

The divine command went forth and when the light pushed back the curtains of darkness, the stage, planet earth was seen to be empty.

Finally after six days of preparation, the new character stepped on the scene: it was homo sapien or man, a new creature made lower than the angels!

The very place which had been the scene of the challenge to the authority of the Most High God was to see His victorious vindication.

The day would come when God’s Son TLJC would bring His life on earth to a close and would say in Gethsemane -
JOH 17:4 “I glorified Thee on the earth, having accomplished the work which Thou hast given Me to do.”

Out of the fall of Lucifer and the subsequent fall of man, through the redemption provided in Christ, God would bring a mighty company of believers, children, sons, whom He could raise to the very throne of heaven without the remotest possibility that any of them ever claim any power in his own right.

PHI 2:10-11 at the title of Jesus every knee of the heavens should bow, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, resulting in the glory of God the Father.

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 43. OUT OF THE LOWEST, GOD SHALL BRING THE HIGHEST. EZE 28:11-15; ROM 9:13-23; GEN 1; JER 18:12; 5:23; 7:24; EXO 33:18-19; ROM 11:34-36

The Angelic Conflict. Part 43. Out of the lowest, God shall bring the highest.

Sunday, March 12, 2006

Point 10. The Pseudo Victory of Satan in the Original Fall of Man.

1. He had the power to strike down Satan and the fallen angels and just cast them in a prison without giving them a day in court to state their case.
2. He could give them an opportunity to prove the claims of Satan to equality with God and superiority in power, and allow these claims to have a complete trial.

God’s plan was for all the universe to see, once and for all, if it were possible for any creature whatsoever, of any rank, however exalted, to live for even a moment independent of God the Creator.

This trial, the angelic conflict, the invisible war, actually brings out the result of a second will, the creature’s will over God’s will, and it takes place in time or human history.

After they had their say and God found them guilty of rebellion, and the reason they had been created which was to glorify Him, God revealed His hatred toward the sin of rebellion by putting an ice pack around the earth and confining Satan and all of his followers to this prison, GEN 1:1-2, 2PE 3:6, JOB 9:5-8, JER 4:23-25, PSA 18:7-15.

From the very moment when Lucifer in his pride, cried out, “I will, I will, I will,” he was doomed to everlasting disappointment and damnation.

Anyone who thinks even for a moment that he can get along without God, that he can accomplish anything in his own power, is doomed to the sensation best described as “dust in the mouth.”

After all he had learned that his wisdom was not omniscience, that his power was not omnipotence, that he was a creature and had no ability to create.

JER 49:20, JER 50:45, Therefore hear the plan of the Lord!

One of the main problems that God has to deal with in the human race is the fact that most individuals are so stubborn and rebellious toward God’s plan for their life.

PSA 78:8 A stubborn and rebellious generation does not prepare its heart, And their spirit is not faithful to God.

Satan, who had claimed that he would be like the Possessor of heaven and earth, was to be revealed as the bragger and boaster who could not fulfill what he claimed to be!

God was choosing man as the arm which would defeat Satan, both in bringing him to total defeat and in replacing him in the scheme of the government of the universe.

EPH 3:10 in order that the manifold [or the abundance of the] wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

The earth was Satan’s kingdom; God had set him in authority over it, EZE 28:14.

Satan had never been dispossessed of the earth even in his confinement; he had been placed on the earth!

God created man lower than all the angels and limited him to planet earth under the law of gravity, confining man in space, in time, in intelligence, and in power.

HEB 2:7 Thou hast made him for a little while lower than the angels; Thou hast crowned him with glory and honor, And hast appointed him over the works of Thy hands;

Out of the lowest, God shall bring the highest.
Even out of man’s fallen condition, God will reach down below the level man was created and offer mankind salvation and eternal life.

He hates grace because grace reveals the glory of God.

Satan wants the creature to earn or deserve things because he is the greatest creature to come from the hand of God, and therefore he would receive more merit than anyone else.

God’s will for your life as a member of the Royal Family of God is to bless you!

In eternity past God provided a fantastic plan which included His highest and best just for you.

EPH 1:3 Worthy of praise and glorification be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Anything God does results in His glorification.

God does not depend on us for His pleasure and glory, but instead He expresses His pleasure and glory toward us.

God is not glorified by our system of human works but is glorified by meeting our every need.

ISA 26:15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, Thou hast increased the nation, Thou art glorified;
ISA 60:21 “Then all your people will be righteous; They will possess the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.”
PSA 50:15 And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will glorify Me.

He hates to see someone living by faith because they make Satan and the fallen angels look ridiculous.

Because we are confined to planet earth, we have to live by faith and believe what the Bible has to say about God; and Satan hates when we trust in the character and nature of God by believing what His word says, even when it doesn’t seem right!

2CO 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight -
HEB 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
ROM 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Out of the creation of a lower creature called man will come the greatest glory to God and the full and total victory in the invisible war or the angelic conflict.
As this drama continues we will see “the paradox of the fortunate fall.”

The Angelic Conflict. Part 44. A new individual around whom the greatest battles of the invisible war would be fought.

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

Point 10. The Pseudo Victory of Satan in the Original Fall of Man.

When Satan and the fallen angels rebelled against God, God still could not permit a rebellion without showing His hatred for sin, rebellion, and independence from the Creator.

His attitude toward rebellion and independence from the Creator had to be proclaimed even though He would permit Satan and the fallen angels to prove their case before all creation.

ROM 1:25 “They exchanged the doctrine from God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator”

2TI 3:4 “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God”

In eternity past, before the creation of the human race, because of the rebellion of Satan and the fallen angels, God spoke the Word of judgment and the entire world we call planet earth, the domain of Satan, was blasted into chaos with a single breath from God.

We do not know how long the interval took place, but it finally came to an end, and the next act of this universal drama was ready to begin - the creation of man!

Satan, the one who had claimed to be equal with God, was about to be revealed as the liar and deceiver he really was!

The divine command went forth and when the light pushed back the curtains of darkness, the stage, planet earth, which had been reset, was seen to be empty.

A new individual would be created around whom the greatest battles of the invisible war would be fought.
Finally after six days of preparation, the new character stepped on the scene: homo sapien or man, a new creature made lower than the angels!

The very place which had been the scene of the challenge to the authority of God was now to see His victorious vindication.

Out of the fall of Satan and the subsequent fall of man, through the redemption provided in Christ, God would bring a mighty company of believers and sons who would live with Him forever without the remotest possibility that any one of them ever claim any power in his own right.

God is the one true God, there is none like unto Him, He is the source of life and power, and to Him shall be ascribed all of the praise and the glory.

DEU 23:5 “The Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the Lord your God loves you.”

It becomes evident that the creation of man was a deliberate move of divine strategy in the invisible war.

Out of this creation and the fall and out of the redemption which was to follow, there was to come the complete revelation of the depths of the wisdom and the knowledge of God, ROM 11:33.

This has been called “the paradox of the fortunate fall.”

God created man below all of these angelic orders and tied him to earth with the law of gravity, limiting him in space, in time, in intelligence, and in power.

Out of the lowest, God shall bring the highest.
Out of the insignificant, God shall bring the significant.

He shall Himself condescend to be a member of this lower creation called humans!

Out of that creation, even out of man’s fallen condition, God will reach down below the level man was created and bring new sons who shall be associated with Him forever and ever for all eternity.

ROM 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

Out of the creation of a lower creature called man will come the greatest glory to God and the full and total victory in the invisible war or the angelic conflict.

The battle of the garden of Eden, though on the surface a victory for Satan, was in reality the beginning of his ultimate defeat.

This is where the angelic conflict or the invisible war, the drama begins on the stage of human history.

He first attacked the Word of God when he said, “Indeed, has God said?” which was a subtle question of doubt concerning the authenticity and validity of God’s word.

LUK 8:12 “And those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they may not believe and be delivered.”

The battle of the garden of Eden, though on the surface a victory for Satan, was in reality the beginning of his ultimate defeat.

Doubt comes from not having enough doctrine or not believing that which you have.

MAT 14:31 “O you of little faith [doctrine], why did you doubt?”
MAR 11:23 “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain [major obstacle], ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.”

ROM 14:23 whatever is not from faith is sin.

Beginning with Eve, Satan has been successful to the extent that the majority of believers have been detached from the only source of spiritual life, the Word of God.

Here we see the divine explanation of the present fallen state of man and the ruined condition of our race.

He was making the blunt suggestion that man had rights and should declare his independence from God.

Gen 3 - the subtle devices of our enemy, the devil who possessed the serpent and deceived the woman, as he out-rightly denies the word of God, GEN 3:4.

Here we also see the universal tendency of human nature to cover its own moral shame by a device of man’s own handiwork.

Here we also discover the spiritual effects of sin - man seeking to flee from God.

Gen 3 - we see God searching for fallen man while fallen man hides from God.

Here we witness the utter powerlessness of man to walk in the path of righteousness when divine grace is withheld from him, GEN 3:11-12.

Here we are taught of the gracious provision which God has made to meet our great need through His seed, TLJC!

We also see the attitude of God toward the guilty sinner.

Many passages in Scripture indicate the great interest of the angelic hosts in all of the events which concern the earth, mankind, and the whole plan of God.

The first thing Satan tries is to deceive the new creature called man into following him and rejecting God.

The invisible war, which had remained in a quiet phase throughout an unknown period when the earth had been in ruin, was now renewed in great intensity.

He began to move through seductive temptation to get man away from God, but more than this, he was seeking to get man to give allegiance to himself.

Everything that has ever come out of mankind for good since the origin of the human race was contained in Adam and his bride.

The Angelic Conflict. Part 45. The Serpent leads man away from God, but he also leads himself into a trap.

Thursday, March 16, 2006

In the creation of mankind, there was a new individual created around whom the greatest battles of the invisible war would be fought.

Everything that has ever come out of mankind for good since the origin of the human race was contained in Adam and his bride.

They were perfect in beauty, perfect in wisdom, perfect genius, but still no match for Satan.

PSA 104:15 The Lord makes wine which makes man’s heart glad,
ECC 9:7 Go then, eat your bread in happiness, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works.

DEU 14:26 And you may spend the money for whatever your heart desires, for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.

It was the tangible symbol which God placed in the garden as the sign of man’s creature-hood. It was something to impose a restraint upon him, something to remind him of his dependence upon God.

He had detached the woman from the Word of God, and he had detached her, by deception, from the belief in the goodness of God.

It was man’s will that made it possible for him to depart from the plan of God, and it was against this will that Satan launched his attack.

Satan’s primary strategy was dictated by his hatred of God, and not by hatred of the creature whom he saw in the garden.

He would seek to detach man from the will of God, and he would seek to increase the number of his own worshipers by attaching man to himself.

The original sin in the garden of Eden resulted in the spiritual death of Adam which was passed down to the entire human race,
ROM 5:12-21.

JOH 12:31 “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world shall be cast out.”

2CO 4:4 The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

EPH 2:2 In which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air

Once Satan convinced Adam and the woman to rebel against God’s command and eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he thought he had defeated God.

At this time, there were still only two wills in the universe, God’s will and the devil’s will.

The plan of Satan indwelling the serpent in the temptation was to get man to change sides in the conflict.

He wished to detach man from God, but he also wished to attach man to himself.

Man is dependent upon God, and if that dependence is destroyed something must take its place; the devil hoped that it would be a dependence upon himself.

The last thing that Satan anticipated is the fact that man would not only desire independence of God, but that he would aspire to be self-sufficient like Satan.

Satan had underestimated the arrogance of independence and willfulness even though he himself possessed it in its highest degree.

MAT 7:1-2 Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

They try to promote themselves and destroy others; they end up destroying themselves and promoting others - operation boomerang.

LUK 6:37 “And do not judge and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.”

Satan’s primary strategy was dictated by his hatred of God, and not by hatred of the creature whom he saw in the garden, man.

The Serpent led man away from God, but he also led himself into a trap.

“Another such victory and Pyrrhus will be destroyed.”

The fact that man sinned was not a victory for Satan.

While Satan gained control of the world through the fall of man, he did not necessarily gain control over the volition of mankind.

When we say there are only two wills to follow, God’s will and Satan’s will, we are not saying that to follow Satan’s will means to do what he wants us to do - we are saying that like Satan, we choose to be independent from God.

Independence from God does not mean dependence on Satan.
In the world today, men seek not the will of Satan but their own will.

Lewis Sperry Chafer - “A serious question arises whether the presence of gross evil in the world is due to Satan’s intention to have it so, or whether it indicates Satan’s inability to execute all he has designed. The probability is great that Satan’s ambition has led him to undertake more than any creature could ever administer.”

Satan would like man to believe that he succeeded in the second also, and that man is now dependent on Satan as his master.

Spiritual death does not hinder the power of positive decision toward God aided by the ministry of God the Holy Spirit in common and efficacious grace.

In the sin of Adam, where Satan seemed to win a decisive victory, there was a profound defeat for Satan which is the key to much of the rest of human history.

Satan succeeded in detaching man from obedience to the Word of God.
Satan also succeeded in detaching man from a belief in the goodness of God.
Satan won man away from confidence in God and dependence upon God.

Though Satan won all of these victories, he lost the whole battle in the fact that he did not succeed in attaching man to himself.

In the beginning there had been one will, the will of God, the Creator.
After the rebellion of Lucifer there had been two wills, that of God and the rebel.
But today, there are literally billions of wills.

ISA 53:6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

The sin of Adam was, in the final analysis, the echo of Satan’s own declaration of independence.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,” PSA 14:1.

How does this revelation of the nature of the fall of Adam affect Satan in the invisible war and the angelic conflict?
Before the creation of the human race, God put a curse upon the earth when Lucifer rebelled; it became a ruin, a waste and desolate earth, and darkness covered the face of the deep or the seas.

Then God withdrew into the majestic silence of His infinite heaven, and left Satan to grieve over the chaotic mass of earth.

He was utterly powerless before the chaos which had come from a simple word of judgment from the Almighty God.

Two separate battles are now being carried on: Satan against God in the invisible warfare, and man against God in human history.

Will Satan be able to organize mankind into a kingdom for himself?
Will man be able to organize himself, humanity, civilization, so that he can bring peace and order into his realm?

Man is a rebel. He has an active will in rebellion against God; and, in many instances, it is in rebellion both against Satan and against other members of the human race!

Augustine - “Oh, God, Thou hast formed us for Thyself; and our souls can know no rest until they rest in Thee.”

How far did man fall by his disobedience?
How far did man go astray when he took the path of his own will?

Is it possible for him to climb back by himself to the heights which Adam knew before the rebellion?
Can man find his way back to God through his own personal effort?

Humanism says that man did not fall, he is on his way up.
Some branches of Protestantism hold that though man fell, he still has the will to choose to go back up if he wishes to exercise it.

Others believe, as we do, that man fell all the way into a pit described in the Scriptures as “death.”

1CO 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

JER 17:9 The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?
ISA 1:5-6 The whole head is sick, And the whole heart is faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in it.

God’s plan is for both creatures, angels and humans, to realize how helpless they are without Him!

Bible doctrine is the least publicized of priorities in this world because this is the devil’s world.

2CO 4:4 the god of this world has blinded the minds of the [apistos - those without doctrine], that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ
REV 12:9 “Satan deceives the whole world;”

Paul said he was a preacher [kerux], 1TI 2:7, 2TI 1:11. "A kerux was someone who had important news to bring. He often announced an athletic event or a religious festival, or functioned as a political messenger, as a bringer of some good news or command from the king’s court."

"He was to have a strong voice and proclaim his message with vigor without lingering to discuss it. The kerux’s most important qualification was that he faithfully represent or report the word of the one by whom he had been sent. He was not to be ‘original’ but his message was to be that of another."

The Angelic Conflict. Part 46. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.
We live in the most intensified stage of the angelic conflict, the Church-age, because it is a time of invisible warfare.

The pastor-teacher must be gifted, prepared, qualified and filled with the Spirit and then the master-teacher, who is God the Holy Spirit, is able to take the information taught by the pastor and teach every single prepared believer.

Stewardship - oikonomia - dispensation = a period of time, namely the Church-age.

In this dispensation of grace, the Church-age, God demonstrates the fallacy of the satanic lie through people who are graced-out totally.

The present dispensation is the ultimate power experiment from God.

There is an infinite gap between divine perfection and human imperfection and grace is the infinite filler that fills the gap.

EPH 3:2 calls this the dispensation of the total grace-out; there is nothing you can do in human effort or human merit, or human energy or power, in the spiritual life.

All of us are ordinary believers, but we have the grace and power offered to us to become extraordinary invisible heroes.
Invisible heroes are found in - 2CO 6:9 we are unknown yet well-known,

Invisible heroes are born-again believers who execute the plan of God, recognize that they are a vital part of the angelic conflict in human history, and avoid all the distractions of legalism, etc.

Like Bible doctrine and like invisible heroes, the trial called the angelic conflict is the least publicized of all trials.

2TI 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Pray for the communicators of Bible doctrine because they are a kerux, someone who has important news to bring.

2TI 1:15 “You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me”
2TI 4:11 “Only Luke is with me.”

Paul became the target of hostile pursuit by both humanity and evil angels, because he was carrying and communicating and heralding and teaching the very doctrines that would reveal the destruction of the evil angels and the angelic conflict.

2CO 12:7 - he was called an angel from Satan to buffet me - [kolaphizo - to maltreat with violence and rude language]

Any communicator of doctrine who exposes the strategies and the schemes of the devil and is doing what EPH 5:11 says, exposing the unfruitful deeds of darkness, is going to have adversities and tribulations.

LUK 6:26 Woe {to you} when all men speak well of you, for in the same way their fathers used to treat the false prophets.
LUK 16:15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.”

MAT 9:34 “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”
MAT 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners!”

MAT 26:65-66 Then the high priest tore his robes, saying, “He has blasphemed!” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death!”
MAR 3:21-22 And when His own people heard {of this,} they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.” And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul”

MAR 3:30 “He has an unclean spirit.”
LUK 15:2 “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

LUK 23:2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar,”
LUK 23:5 But they kept on insisting, saying, “He stirs up the people,”

LUK 23:14 “This man is one who incites the people to rebellion,”
JOH 7:12 “He leads the multitude astray.”

JOH 8:48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
JOH 10:20 And many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”

LUK 23:28 “Stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.”

The mastery of mystery doctrine - in the pulpit we give it so that we can recognize it, but in life God brings tests so we can utilize it.

Your mastery of the mystery doctrine of the Church-age does not just get you an A+ at the judgment seat of Christ, it makes you competent and more than equal to any adversities or tests in this life.

Your mastery of the mystery doctrine of the Church-age makes you competent and more than equal to any adversities or tests in this life.

It is demonstrated before elect and fallen angels through your faithfulness to God that God is just in everything He does, so that He must have been just in imposing sentence on Satan and all his angels!

ISA 28:10 For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little.

EPH 3:10 in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places [the elect and fallen angels].

Manifold - polupoikilos = the multifarious, many-sided, multi-faceted wisdom of God.

EPH 3:10 in order that the multi-faceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places [the elect and fallen angels].

What is the multi-faceted wisdom of God?
It is the genius of omniscience applied in a plan of God for both man and angels.

The cross resolves the angelic conflict, COL 2:14-15.
The cross is also the means for the redemption solution for man, COL 1:20.
The cross is the means of propitiating God the Father, HEB 12:2.
The cross is the means for glorifying Jesus Christ, GAL 6:14.

EPH 3:10 in order that the multi-faceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church.
Something could not be discovered about God until the Church began.

The Angelic Conflict. Part 47. Something could not be discovered about God until the Church-age began.

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

Paul said he was a preacher [kerux], 1TI 2:7, 2TI 1:11.

In January of 1963, Victor Paul Furnish wrote an excellent article on prophets and apostles and preachers in a magazine entitled Interpretation.
“A kerux was someone who had important news to bring. He often announced an athletic event or a religious festival or functioned as a political messenger as a bringer of some good news or command from the king’s court.”

“He was to have a strong voice and proclaim his message with vigor without lingering to discuss it. The kerux’s most important qualification was that he faithfully represents or report the word of the one by whom he had been sent. He was not to be “original” but his message was to be that of another.”

1. Bible doctrine is the least publicized of priorities in this world because this is the devil’s world, 2CO 4:4.
2. Invisible heroes, like Bible doctrine, are the least publicized of heroes.

They are unknown in terms of human history but are well-known in terms of the angelic community who are watching them.

3. Like Bible doctrine and like invisible heroes, the trial called the angelic conflict is the least publicized of all trials.

This is the most intensified stage of the angelic conflict, the Church-age, because it is a time of invisible warfare.

Stewardship - oikonomia - dispensation = a period of time, namely the Church-age.

EPH 3:10 in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places [the elect and fallen angels].

Manifold - polupoikilos = the multifarious, many-sided, multi-faceted wisdom of God.
It means having many facets, many factors, many dimensions.

EPH 3:10 in order that the multi-faceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church.

Something could not be discovered about God until the church began.

Professor Gunther Bornkamm of Hiedelberg University defines eusebeia: “Christian faith and life, conduct in relationship to God, and manner of life.”

Professor Bornkamm - “In the pastoral epistles, eusebeia denotes a particular manner of life; eusebeia actually denotes the spiritual life of the believer.”

The information about the wisdom of God in the Church-age radically changes their universe.

2CO 6:9 are unknown yet well-known,

It is when a born again believer who could not live the Christian way of life in the energy of his flesh in a million years uses a problem-solving device from God in a crisis.

REV 3:5 “To the winner, I will acknowledge his name before My Father, and before His angels.”

2CO 6:9 unknown yet well-known,

The moment the pastor wants to be well-known rather than know well the scriptures, he’s done.

JOH 12:43 for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.

2CO 12:7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me - to keep me from exalting myself!

Kolaphizo = to maltreat with violence and rude language, to persecute.

2TI 1:15 “You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me”

2TI 4:11 Only Luke is with me.

Paul became the target of hostile pursuit by both humanity and evil angels because he was carrying and communicating and heralding and teaching the very doctrines that would reveal the destruction of the evil angels and the angelic conflict.

God Almighty must do everything for man that is to be done to bring him back to his position from which he fell, but even more than that, to a place above that from which he fell.

God, man, or the devil: these are the three possible sources of hope.

Human history is the record of the attempts of mankind and Satan to do something for themselves.

Why does an omnipotent all-powerful God permit the holocausts of human history?
He permits it in order to demonstrate to the universe that neither Satan nor man can do anything for themselves or for each other.

H.G. Wells - “Faced with what we see around us in the world, we are forced to conclude that either God has the power and does not care, or that God cares but does not have the power.”

God both cares and has the power, but He is planning something which demands the coming chaos of man’s world in order to demonstrate to all that help is to be found in God alone.

His greater purpose is for all of us to discover that there is nothing in life worth living for except Him.

God does care but He knows that His care can only be manifest today to a select company of individuals who have accepted the principles that they are helpless without divine help.

They are the ones who totally admit the principle of their own spiritual bankruptcy and have turned utterly to the Lord Jesus Christ as God’s one and only answer to their problems.

JOH 17:9 “I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom Thou hast given Me; for they are Thine;”

They do not recognize that there is a war on, and that God neither will nor can yield.

The Angelic Conflict. Part 48. God has chosen the weakest of all creatures, mankind, to resolve the angelic conflict.

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

They do not recognize that there is a war on, and that God neither will nor can yield.

2CO 4:4 the gospel of the glory of Christ,

Dislocating pastors dispensationally to mislead congregations thoroughly.

In order to understand God’s grace to the maximum, they have to study the objects of maximum grace - fallen, depraved, unworthy, spiritually dead members of the human race.

When angels observe us as totally depraved and totally undeserving anything from God and then see a perfectly constructed plan directed toward imperfect man - it brings glory to God.

The grace and mercy of God toward undeserving and unworthy creatures.

1CO 1:27 - the foolish ones [moros] of the world [like Church-age believers] to shame the wise [like Satan and the fallen angels], and God has chosen the weak ones of the world to shame the things which are strong,
1CO 1:28 and unknown ones of the world and the despised, that He might nullify the things that are,

It is His grace being manifested to us that brings glory to Him in the angelic conflict, and that is why there is such an attack upon the grace of God.

God has chosen the weakest of all creatures, mankind, to resolve the angelic conflict in the most magnificent realm.

In choosing the plan of God at salvation through faith in Christ, regenerate mankind becomes positionally superior to angels through the baptism of the Spirit and resultant positional sanctification.

This not only makes us Royal Family of God, but also a new spiritual species, making it possible for the first time in history for all believers to live the unique spiritual life of freedom instead of an independent life of slavery.

When Jesus Christ received His third royal warrant, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, that is when the angelic conflict shifted gears into its intensified stage.

Our Lord became the victor of the angelic conflict as an inferior creature to angels, a member of the human race.

God could not say this to deity, and He never said this to an angel; He said this to the humanity of Christ, making the humanity of Christ superior to angels.

EPH 2:6 God the Father raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus,

We cannot take advantage of our position now on earth unless we live in the PPOG designed for us in eternity past by God the Father.

PHI 3:8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ,

2CO 6:1 “We also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain-”

ROM 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

1TI 3:16 And by common confession great is the mystery of the unique spiritual life: He [God] who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Beheld by angels, Proclaimed among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.

The resurrection, ascension, and session is based on the strategic victory of our Lord in the angelic conflict, Heb 1-2.

“Having become” - aor-mid-part - genomenos - genovmeno" = to become something you were not before.

Aorist tense - ginomai = points to the time of the cross when TLJC broke the back of Satan and all fallen angels through His victory.

COL 2:14 Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

COL 2:15 When [at the cross] He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Middle voice - ginomai = TLJC did all the work, but we are benefited by it.
Participle - denotes this was God’s purpose for TLJC to fulfill.

Better - adjective kreitton = superior or more advantageous.

“He has inherited” - per-act-ind - kekleronomeken - keklhronovmhken = to be an heir; to inherit; to obtain.

The "noun" for inheritance, kleronomeo = "heirs" or one who receives the property of one who died.
It also means one who inherits a rank, a title, and an office.

a. A new rank. In His humanity, He is now seated at the right hand of God, the highest place of authority in the universe, MAT 28:18.

MAT 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” 30:36

b. TLJC has a new title, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, 1TI 6:15, REV 17:14; REV 19:16.
c. TLJC has a brand new office; our Lord is appointed a high priest by God the Father, HEB 5:4-10; HEB 6:20.

a. Our new rank, we have been made kings, REV 1:5; REV 5:10.
b. Our new title, we are God’s beloved sons and children of God, EPH 1:6; MAT 3:17, 1JO 3:1.
c. Our new office; we are royal priests, 1PE 2:5,9.

1JO 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.

TLJC is greater than the angels and we are in union with Him and “joint heirs” - we are greater than angels positionally, and someday experientially.

Name - noun onoma = title, authority, character, fame, reputation, and integrity.

HEB 1:4 - TLJC did not inherit a new name but a new title, authority, and character in His humanity.

Begotten - perf-act-ind - gegenneka - gegevnnhkav - [genetics] = all children are the property of the Father, but brought into the world by extension of the mother.

Worship - aor-act-imp - proskuneo = to kiss; to adore; to respect; and to worship.

The humanity of TLJC will be worshipped by angels at the Second Advent.
Aorist tense - at the point of the Second Coming angels will worship TLJC while Church-age believers throw demons into prison.
Active voice - God allows the angels the privilege of worshipping Christ.
Imperative mood - the mood of command and directive.

The point of the writer is that the angels are not merely servants, but of such a nature that God makes them according to the “needs” of His service, and being such as they are, they are changeable, in contrast to the Son who is their ruler, and unchangeable.

God could not say this to deity, and He never said this to an angel; He said this to the humanity of Christ, making the humanity of Christ superior to angels.

The Angelic Conflict Part. 49. The resurrection, ascension and session is based on the strategic victory of our Lord in the angelic conflict.

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

The resurrection, ascension, and session is based on the strategic victory of our Lord in the angelic conflict, Heb 1-2.

Because you are positionally superior to that elect guardian angel, being in union with Christ, that angel, invisible, serves you right now.

When TLJC sat down at the right hand of God that revealed that He was better than angels because He is the heir of all things and the creator of the universe,
HEB 1:1-2.

TLJC has a better name and nature than angels, HEB 1:4.
TLJC is worshipped by angels, HEB 1:6.

He is the creator and master of angels, HEB 1:7.
He has an eternal throne and is anointed with the Holy Spirit, HEB 1:8-9.
He is unchangeable, HEB 1:10.

He is seated at God’s right hand, HEB 1:13.
Because of our union with Him elect angels serve us right now, HEB 1:14.

REV 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

DEU 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever”

Between the passing of the sentence in eternity past and the execution of that sentence at the end of the Millennium and the Gog revolution, an appeal trial is occurring in human history.

Human history is not only coterminous with the appeal trial of Satan and his fallen angels, but human history is the actual courtroom for that trial, and mankind was created to be a part of that trial.

Because of the fallen angels being under judgment and the human race being elevated above the angelic creation, the human race is being warned not to do what they have done, i.e. to reject the Messiah and the plan of God.

“To pay much closer attention” - pres-act-inf - prosechein - prosevcein.
Pros = face to face; looking the subject directly in the face.
Echo = to have and to hold.
To apply the mind to something, or to concentrate on the subject - the doctrine being taught.

ISA 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
ISA 48:11 “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can {My name} be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.”

“To pay much closer attention” = pres-act-inf - prosecho.

Grace always precedes judgment.

“Lest we drift away” - aor-act-subj - pararrhueo = to let the doctrine drift past you or to flow by you.

a. Refusing to hear the teaching of the word of God on a consistent basis.
b. Hearing the teaching of Bible doctrine but refusing to metabolize it; the failure to convert gnosis into epignosis.
c. Metabolizing doctrine so that it exists in the soul, but not applying what you have learned, and therefore the doctrine becomes unusable or forgotten.

Angels were used by God to bring doctrine to men, ACT 7:38,53.
Man is now being used by God to bring doctrine to men and angels, EPH 3:10.

God is using men, the church, to bring doctrine to angels and men -
EPH 3:10 In order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

“Every transgression” - noun parabasis = every form of stepping over the line.

Disobedience - noun parakoe = disobedience that results from neglecting to hear doctrine and letting these fantastic things drift by, as in verse 1.

Disobedience is said to be refusing to hear,
EXO 15:26; 19:5,8; 23:22; JOS 1:18; ISA 28:12; 30:9; JER 11:10; 32:23; 35:16-17.

EXO 15:26 And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments,”
ISA 30:9 For this is a rebellious people, false sons, Sons who refuse to listen To the instruction of the Lord;

JER 11:10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words,

Kenneth Wuest -
“The nature of the sin of Adam was a careless indifferent attitude towards the commands of God”

ROM 5:19 “For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous.”

Parakoe = “to hear alongside” thus failing to concentrate when hearing or hearing amiss.
It has the connotation of failing to hear due to a lack of carelessness because of a desire to have our own will.

a. Becoming an enemy of the cross [finished work of Christ], PHI 3:18.
b. Becoming the enemy of God, JAM 4:4.
c. Becoming a hater of God, JOH 15:23.
d. Becoming double-minded, JAM 4:8.

e. Becoming anti-Christ, 1JO 2:18, 22; 1JO 4:3; 2Jo 7.
f. Becoming carnal, ROM 8:7; 1CO 3:1-2.
g. Becoming a disciple of the devil, 1JO 3:8,10.
h. Drifting off course from grace, GAL 5:4.

i. Falling from grace, HEB 12:15.
j. Becoming a tortured and unstable soul, 2PE 2:7-8,14.
k. Becoming shipwrecked, 1TI 1:19.

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 50. HUMAN HISTORY DEMONSTRATES THAT GOD IS GLORIFIED BY THE CREATION OF MAN. HEB 2:1-10; JUD 1:6; 1CO 15:45-49

The Angelic Conflict Part 50. Human history demonstrates that God is glorified by the creation of man.

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

Disobedience - noun parakoe = disobedience that results from neglecting to hear doctrine and letting these fantastic things drift by, as in verse 1.

Verse 2 - the recompense is just; God is absolutely right and just concerning His judgment on the fallen angels.

1. God owes the fallen angels the lake of fire but they are not there at the present time.
2. Human history is the space between Satan’s trial and His conviction and between the passing of His sentence and the execution of the sentence.
3. The passing of the sentence is the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and His angels before human history,
MAT 25:41.

4. The execution of the sentence: REV 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

5. Because Satan appealed His sentence before human history, man was then created as a third party to show Satan that His appeal is not justified.
6. Human history demonstrates that God is righteous, just, and perfect; therefore God is glorified by the creation of man,
REV 4:11; ISA 43:21.

Neglect - aor-act-part - ameleo = to be careless toward something or to make light of, to disregard, to be unconcerned, to neglect.

“So great a salvation” = our Lord’s finished work on the cross.

MAT 25:41 Then He will also say to those on His left, “Depart from me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and His angels;”
2PE 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;

1CO 1:22 for indeed Jews ask for signs,
JOH 1:11 “He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.”

The virgin birth foretold, ISA 7:14.
ISA 28:11 - there were tongues as a sign to unbelievers.1
ISA 53:9 - there was the prophecy of the two deaths of Christ.

In the Church-age, Satan and His angels reign.
In the Millennium, man will rule, that man being Jesus Christ, the Son of David.

Remember - pres-mid-ind - mimneske = to recall to mind, to remember in an affectionate way.

“Son of man” = the descendants of Adam, not Christ, though the term “Son of Man” generally does refer to Christ.

Out of the lowest, God shall bring the highest.
Out of the insignificant, God shall bring the significant.

He shall Himself condescend to be a member of this lower creation called humans.

God was choosing “man” as the arm which would defeat Satan, both in bringing him to total defeat and in replacing him in the scheme of the government of the universe.

It was to be out of man that Christ would come, and it would be through certain chosen members of the human race that God would proclaim the defeat of Satan to both the elect and fallen angels. This is a reference to the resurrection of Jesus Christ whereby all angelic creatures, including fallen angels, are subordinated to Him “in His humanity.”

In His deity, Jesus Christ is the creator of angels but, in His humanity, He was made lower than angels, HEB 2:7.
In His resurrection, He is higher than angels even in His humanity.

1CO 15:45-49 describes only 2 members of the human race who came into the world under conditions of perfection without an O.S.N.

Originally man was made inferior; the first Adam was made inferior to angels, both elect and fallen.

The only way man becomes superior to angels is through union with TLJC who is seated at the right hand of God the Father.

EPH 2:6 And [He - God the Father] raised us up with Him [Jesus Christ], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus.

Positionally, every believer in the Church-age is superior to angels; some day experientially we will also be greater.
PHI 3:21, 1CO 15:53 - our resurrected body is greater than angels which is why the church is the first to go up in the rapture to receive their resurrected bodies at the bema seat judgment.

DEU 32:4 “The rock! His work is perfect, for all his ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He.”

Crowned - aor-act-ind - stephanoo = to adorn with an honorary crown, to receive the approval of God.

GEN 1:28-30 - God gave the first Adam dominion over creation.

Verse 9 - this time “crowned with glory and honor” = the birth of TLJC which was just like the creation of the first Adam.
The difference is that the first Adam lost his glory and honor; the second Adam, TLJC, built upon His glory and honor.

We have positional truth in the first Adam; we have positional truth in the second Adam -
1CO 15:22 “In Adam all die, in Christ shall all be made alive”

At the Second Coming, when the Millennial reign of Christ begins, there will be believers on earth minus demons and unbelievers, (the baptism of fire)
MAT 24:40-41.

During the Millennial reign, the saints will rule in resurrection bodies just like the unseen forces now who run the world.

All things being subjected to Him refers to the human race, the angelic race, nature, weather, animals, and plant life.

“He left nothing that is not subject to Him” = the baptism of fire where all that is against Christ will be removed.

Acts 5:31 “He is the one whom God has exalted at His right hand as Prince and Savior.”

PHI 2:9 “Therefore also, God has highly exalted Him and given Him a title which is above every title, that at the title of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father.”

His third royal patent is related to His resurrection and ascension.
His title is “King of kings, Lord of lords, bright morning star.”

His Royal Family is in the process of being completed, made up of every Church-age believer.

MAT 1:21 “And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.”

Crowned with glory and honor is not speaking of His resurrected body but His physical body which was without sin and impeccable.

1. It saved mankind.
2. It got back the crown that Adam lost.

Taste is used because the first Adam tasted the fruit and died spiritually; the last Adam tasted death and we live eternally.

For - conjunction gar = used to link the last sentence with the next one; it points to the reason why Heb 1 andHEB 2:1-9 are true.
It was fitting - imp-act-ind - eprepen = to have inner fitness, to be totally equipped or suitable.

Every stupid, imbecilic, dumb, dense, moronic, dull believer - most of us included in that statement.

As a part of the victory in the angelic conflict and our Lord’s new position at the right hand of God the Father, God takes fallen human creatures and makes something out of them that causes Satan to grind his teeth.

1. Eprepen - it was fitting = everything depends on God’s character and God’s ability.
2. It also emphasizes that God designed a perfect plan that man can have nothing to do with or else it is no longer perfect.

3. Legalism is the great enemy of Christ.
4. Satan cannot get into us through demon possession, so he uses false doctrine and legalistic teaching to cause demon influence in our souls.

In the angelic conflict, Satan promotes human good within Christians to make them perform and improve his world!

Many sons = believers in the Church-age only who are sons of God because of their union with TLJC, MAT 3:17, EPH 1:6, GAL 3:26-28.

MAT 3:17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
EPH 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

Glory - noun doxan = dignity and honor.
Author - noun archegon = the chief or supreme leader, the ruler, the prince, or the author.

ACT 3:15 But you put to death the Prince [archegon] of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.
Acts 5:31">ACT 5:31 He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince [archegon] and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

“To perfect” - aor-act-inf - teleiosai = to advance to completion, to finish; TLJC is completed when every son (Church-age believer) is presented to Him as His bride.

Sufferings is in the plural because He was judged for every single sin in the history of the human race!

“He who sanctifies” - pres-act-part - hagiazon = to make holy, to purify even mentally.

1CO 1:2; HEB 10:10 = every believer is sanctified or set apart for God.

Sanctified - pres-mid-part - hagiazomenoi = in the middle voice it means to receive holiness and to be set apart by God.

It is our position that ultimately counts, not our condition.

HEB 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

PSA 130:3 If you Lord marked iniquities, no one could stand.

TLJC is perfect and every believer is in union with Him.

To call - pres-act-inf - kalien = to call or to name.

1CO 2:16 - through the mind of Christ!

Behold - aor-mid-imp - idou = to look or to focus your attention.

God has given -
aor-act-ind - edoken = to reward through giving.

In this angelic conflict, Satan holds man in his power, just like a jailer holds a prisoner until there is a true legal release.

Might deliver - aor-act-sub - apallaxe = to release or to set free, or to deliver.

1. Jesus Christ became true humanity to do the will of the Father,
HEB 10:5-10.

2. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be the Savior of the world, PHI 2:7-8,
HEB 2:14-15.

3. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be the mediator between God and man,
JOB 9:2,32-33; 1TI 2:5-6.

4. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be a priest.
A priest must be a man in order to represent man before God. Jesus Christ became true humanity to be our high priest, HEB 7:4-5,14,28; 10:5, 10-14.

5. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be a king and rule forever.
He had to be the son of David to fulfill the Davidic covenant to Israel,
2SA 7:8-16; PSA 89:20-37.

“Suffered” - per-act-ind - peponthen = to suffer, to undergo punishment.

“Was tempted” - aor-pass-part - peirastheis = to test; to approve for good or bad, to test someone to determine their character.

Pres-pass-part - peirazomenois = to test, to try the quality and character of an individual!

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 51. THE GRAND CONSUMMATION AFTER CRUSHING THE OPPOSITION. HEB 2:8-18; 1CO 15:12-28; 1CO 8:6; HEB 12:2, 4:13

The Angelic COnflict. Part 51. The grand consumation after crushing the opposition.

Thursday, March 30, 2006

Point 11. How God is Glorified in the Angelic Conflict.

HEB 2:7 Thou hast made him [original man, the first Adam] for a little while lower than the angels; Thou hast crowned him [in GEN 5:2, male and female] with glory and honor, And hast appointed him over the works of Thy hands [GEN 1:28 fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth].

Verse 7 - the first Adam who failed.
Verse 8 - the last Adam.

The grand consummation is when, after crushing the opposition, TLJC hands over His kingdom to God the Father, who then turns it back over to TLJC.

When everything and everyone is finally under God’s rule, the Son will step down, taking His place with everyone else, showing that God’s rule is absolutely comprehensive - a perfect ending, and then God the Father turns the kingdom back over to Him.

Verse 7 - back to the first Adam in the garden of Eden.
Verse 8 - forward to the Last Adam in the Millennial reign.
Verse 9 - back to the Church-age.

Author - noun archegon = the chief or supreme leader, the ruler, the prince, or the author.

ACT 3:15 But you put to death the Prince [archegon-the chief or supreme leader, or the author] of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.
ACT 5:31 He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince [archegon] and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

“To perfect” - aor-act-inf - teleiosai = to advance to completion, to finish; TLJC is completed when every son (Church-age believer) is presented to Him as His bride.

Pathema - sufferings = in the plural because He was judged for every single sin in the history of the human race.

“He who sanctifies” - pres-act-part - hagiazo = to make holy, to purify even mentally.

1CO 1:2, HEB 10:10 - every believer is sanctified or set apart for God.
Sanctification is not something we attain, but it is a state in which we begin the Christian life.

Present tense - TLJC keeps on setting apart those who believe through the baptism of the Spirit.
Active voice - TLJC does the sanctifying through God the Holy Spirit Who is the agent and the reason we are in union with Christ.
Participle - denotes the purpose of the cross.

Sanctified - pres-mid-part - hagiazo = to receive holiness and to be set apart by God.

If you do not understand positional truth, you will not understand the fantastic implications and applications concerning the angelic conflict.

It is our position that ultimately counts, not our condition.

God has given - aor-act-ind - edoken = to reward through giving.

1PE 5:8 Be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

In this angelic conflict, Satan holds man in his power, just like a jailer holds a prisoner until there is a true legal release.

Might deliver - aor-act-sub - apallaxe = to release or to set free; or to deliver.

1. Jesus Christ became true humanity to do the will of the Father, HEB 10:5-10.
2. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be the Savior of the world, PHI 2:7-8; HEB 2:14-15.
3. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be the mediator between God and man, JOB 9:2,32-33; 1TI 2:5-6.

4. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be a priest.
A priest must be a man in order to represent man before God.
Jesus Christ became true humanity to be our high priest, HEB 7:4-5,14,28; 10:5,10-14.

5. Jesus Christ had to become true humanity to be a king and rule forever.
He had to be the son of David to fulfill the Davidic covenant to Israel, 2SA 7:8-16; PSA 89:20-37.

“Suffered” - per-act-ind - peponthen = to suffer, to undergo punishment.
Was tempted” - aor-pass-part - peirastheis = to test, to approve for good or bad, to test someone to determine their character.
Pres-pass-part - peirazomenois = to test, to try the quality and character of an individual!

THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PART 52. THE EXISTENCE OF FREE WILL IN THE HUMAN RACE PERPETUATES THE ANGELIC CONFLICT. PSA 51:5; 58:3; JOH 1:29; 3:15-18,36; 4:42; 6:32-33,51; 12:46-47; 15:16-19; ROM 8:29-30; EPH 1:5,11

The Angelic Conflict. Part 52. The existence of Free Will in the human race perpetuates the Angelic Conflict.

Friday, March 31, 2006

Point 12. The Existence of Free Will in the Human Race Perpetuates the Angelic Conflict.

This is actually promoted by many Calvinists, especially hyper-Calvinists.
They teach that man cannot choose God or the plan of God, and therefore God must choose Him.

This comes from taking certain scriptures out of context, not comparing scripture with scripture, and a problem that John Calvin and a lot of his followers have, they did not know the original language.

1. Isagogics is the historical setting of the passage.
2. Categories is the systematic theology developed from combining Scripture with Scripture.
3. Exegesis is the grammatical and syntactical analysis of the passage from the original languages.

Many Calvinists hold to the doctrine of double predestination which is heresy and an attack upon the justice of God. This is the teaching that God has predestined some to be saved and some to the eternal lake of fire.

ROM 5:12 “Through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned - when Adam sinned”
1CO 15:22 in Adam all die
EPH 2:3 - we were by nature children of wrath,

Every member of the human race since then has been born into sin without their consent; therefore, if God sent them to hell because they were born sinners, He would be unjust in doing so.

Mankind is not responsible for imputed sin.

It is true in a sense that man does not really have a free will, but he does have a choice.

Everyone has the opportunity to make a decision to be saved, and if they do not have the opportunity then they are safe.

All children who die before the age of accountability, mentally speaking, go to heaven and are given eternal life,2SA 12:23.

All retarded people who have been mentally incapable of making a decision to believe on TLJC as their Lord and Savior will also go to heaven,
JON 4:11.

ROM 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
ROM 11:15 - God reconciled the world unto Himself.
2CO 5:19 God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them

1JO 4:14 And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
1TI 2:4 He desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1TI 2:6 He gave Himself as a ransom for all,

1TI 4:10 He is called the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
HEB 2:9 - TLJC tasted death for everyone.
1JO 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

1CO 2:7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

“He who believes in Him” - to believe - pres-act-part - pisteuon - = mankind makes his own willful decision to believe in TLJC.

“Has not believed” -
perf-act-ind - pepisteuken - he has refused to believe in Jesus Christ.

Predestination is a print-out from the sovereign will of God and it applies to believers only.

2PE 3:9 “The Lord is not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

Hyper-Calvinism says the only reason you ever believed in Christ was because you were elected.

Chosen - aor-mid-ind - exelexasthe = God did not choose us based upon His volition only, but also based upon our response to His initiation.

Middle voice - there were two wills involved in this situation, the will of God to save us and the will of man to respond with a non-meritorious system of perception called faith.

Chose - aor-mid-ind - eklegomai = God did not choose us based upon His volition only but also based upon our response to His initiation.

Many forms of Calvinism also promote the principle of limited atonement which says in effect that Jesus Christ just died for some people’s sins but not everyone’s.

The mistake of many Calvinists is that they do not understand that the sovereignty of God and the free will of man coexist in human history by divine decree.

God is glorified when the free will of man executes the sovereign will of God.

The unbeliever is said to go to the eternal lake of fire after the last judgment because of unbelief, because of the use of his volition, not because of the determination of the sovereignty of God.

Unlimited atonement is the demonstration that the sovereignty of God desires that no one should perish.

2CO 6:2 for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you”

If God chose us and we had nothing do to with it, it would be unjust for Him to send any member of the human race to hell since all of us were born in sin.

The existence of the free will in the human race perpetuates the angelic conflict in two areas:
A. Evangelism. B. In the PPOG for the Church-age.

Through rejection of Christ or the plan of God, mankind chooses the plan of Satan, which runs the range from religion to legalism, socialism, all forms of arrogance, emotionalism, atheism, or any other form of independence from God.

Because of the extension of the angelic conflict into human history, the sovereignty of God and the free will of man coexist by divine decree.

Whether we are positive toward Christ and the PPOG or not, no matter how we fail or suffer, there is no way we can hinder the glory of God.

Freedom guarantees inequality.

Some people use their freedom to succeed in God’s plan by using divine power and living a spiritual life; some choose to use human power and live independently from God.

1JO 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
