40 GIFTS @ SALVATION - INDWELLING TRINITY 2. BIBLE STUDY GROUP
So, welcome everyone. So, today being Wednesday, Jim is usually the teacher, but he couldn't make it today. So I am filling in for him. And we are continuing what we talked about yesterday. What we've been talking about for the last five, six weeks. We're talking about the forty assets or forty benefits that we receive on the day of salvation.
Okay, and these are all blessings from the Father, benefits for us as believers. Now, yesterday I started and I talked about love. Okay, we went into Scripture about love. We opened up in Corinthians and Paul talked about all these gifts that we get and that all these gifts without love. is meaningless. Love is the most important thing, And we're going to see that today because what we're covering today is the indwelling of Jesus, the Son. Okay, does that make sense? Yep. Yesterday. We talked about the indwelling of the Father and the T rini ty : God the Father, God the Son, God Holy Spirit three different roles.
Now, the Father has His role, the Son, and then of course the Holy Spirit. All right. So, yesterday as I just mentioned, we talked about the Father. Now most Christians know that when they trusted Christ as their Savior that God, the Holy Spirit came to indwell in them. Many Christians do not realize that at the same time, God the Father God, the Son came to indwell in them as well.
Thank you, Judy. Thank you for reminding me. I said, "I was shocked." Okay, well, like I thank you for reminding me. Like we always do, let's take a moment of silence. Right? We in First John one nine. The scripture says that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. So let's take that moment please.
Thank you, Father. Thank you, Lord, For First John one nine Father that we can be in fellowship with You right now. Father, as we study Your Word, Lord. Thank you so much, Father. It's such a privilege, such such an honor father to serve You to be right here, father with my brothers and sisters in Christ sharing Your Word father I pray Lord that You open their eyes father open their ears. Remove those scales from their eyes so they can see, Father, what you are bringing to us. Father, so they can hear what you are trying to teach us. Lord, and most importantly, Father, that they take what they learn today. Lord and of course apply it to their lives. Father, we thank you, father that you provide all things. Your word tells it all lord. Your word is truth, and we're so grateful for that father.
Thank you for the opportunity, Lord. In Jesus's name, we pray. Okay, so let's start over again. Okay, so most Christians know that when they trust Christ as the Savior, that God the Holy Spirit came in or came to indwell in them. Okay, we hear that all the time, but unfortunately. Many Christians do not realize that the same time, at the same time, That God the Father and God the Son came to indwell in them as well. Okay, each member of the Trinity has a specific purpose for indwelling the believer. Okay, and today we're covering the indwelling of Jesus, the Son and His role for us. And we talked about love yesterday.
And God has put in my heart to bring you, to show you, to teach you how important is to fall in love with Christ. And we're going to see that today again. Yesterday, we went through scriptures, how Jesus was in the Old Testament through His Shekinah glory showed up in the cloud showed up in. The fire by night showed up in Hagar, showed up to Abraham. He's always been there for us, right from the beginning. And he is with us right here, right now, in every one of us, leading us and guiding us. Okay? Now, let's talk about a little bit the role or the purpose of why the Father indwells in the believer.
Okay, this is yesterday's teaching, But I just want to kind of review. So we know and move forward now. Okay, So everything that we possess as believers is provided by the Father through the agency of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Okay, it's through Him as a guarantee to us. The Father' the Father's eternal provision what He gives us God the Father indwells. Every single believer, as we just said, the Father is with us constantly to grant us. We're going through why He indwells in us. Okay, He's constantly with us and He grants us blessings beyond compare and above our capacity, above our imagination. Okay, He constantly pours out divine blessings to who? To His children.
Now you have to remember, and you have to understand when I say "his children," I am specifically talking about the believer. Okay, God is the creator of all human beings, but as believers, We have been adopted and now we are co- heirs with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So I am speaking to the believers here. Okay, his children and He has bestowed. gifts of grace without measure. These blessings include such things as, of course, salvation, His beautiful amazing promises to us, His Word, our families, friends and every physical need that we have. All we need. Okay? The Father uh His indwelling us in order to He indwells us in order to watch over us.
To protect us, okay? As any good father would do. And I love that we use the term " father " because as human beings having our own physical guy, okay? It makes it very clear his role for us. Just like our earthly fathers has a role for us as well, right? Our earthly father will protect you. An earthly father will provide for you. He will do everything for his children, the same way that God, our Father, will do everything for us and provide everything for us. Make sense? Okay. He will provide all our physical needs. When I say all, as we go through some of these things, it's going to click and it's going to make sense. But it's your will.
To investigate your will, to search your will, to seek. He has given it to us ;. It's been provided for every single one of us. But, he leaves it up to you because he will not enforce his will on anyone. Remember that, okay? The father is with us to assure, to assure us of his love and his care as a loving father. He is concerned with our welfare and continually shows his love for us by guiding us, directing us in our paths through this life. This life that we're in right now, that is so short, that we take nothing with us. He's talking about now this time our test, like a good father as we know.
He occasionally has to discipline his children in order to help them stay in his will, just like your father at home will discipline you. If you can remember back growing up when you were children, he disciplined us so we can be better people. Let's say right so we can have an understanding of what life is. Now, think about your earthly father disciplining you. How much greater the love of our Lord, the love that He had for us, that He bestowed all of these gifts. But He wants you to stay in line ; He wants you to stay in His will. And sometimes He will allow things to happen in our life to draw us back in. Okay, very important.
The father dwells in the believer to guide him from the world system and to glorify, of course, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now we hear this word, "the world system" or "the cosmic system." Okay, how does He guard us from that? Okay, I want you to think about this and I want you to remember. And I know you guys were here yesterday and we're just reviewing. Okay, I am talking about the world system. What we've been indoctrinated since we were children, we've been indoctrinated to this system of the world that most people, just about all, participate in. For an example, I am just going to use this as an example. We pay fathers', mothers', parents' however you want to look at it), we pay for our children.
To go to Ivy Leagues colleges, to be indoctrinated, not to be taught today. It's not like it used to be. To be indoctrinated in this system that who has provided the prince of the air, the one who's in control. See, they've been indoctrinated in that system so they get they're so distracted, they're so concentrated in their careers. They're so concentrating and making money, and so I can get the next best thing, get this big house, get the next car. They're so focused on that that none of this makes sense. So watch this. So, we've been indoctrinated by our own paying big money for our kids to go to these colleges to be indoctrinated into this system. And the Lord says, "But my children, my people that follow me, my people that are in the Word."
My children that I have adopted, I have provided them a way. I have provided them a system that if they stay in my system, that they will have such joy, such purpose, happiness. Not just that, but because we're in that system, we glorify Him at the same time. Why? Because it's not of you; He provided the system; we're just. Tapping into that, all we're just taking a hold of that. Do you see what I am trying to say? Now, everybody's going through pain in their life. Some of us at different times. When I want you to think back, if you are not experiencing that right this minute, I want you to think back in your pain and your tribulation. Those situations that we all go through. We all go through this. We all.
Have things in our lives that is always something to try to distract us. Now, as you are going through this pain, okay, what happens? Fear sets in, anxiety sets in. That's what happens. Now we start to think, "What can I do so I can have some kind of relief?" So what do we do? Think about it. I want you to think about this. We start that fear sets in, we start to scramble, not knowing, all distracted. But I want you to think about your pain and say, "Okay. " In that through all of that pain and through all of that emotions going on, did the outcome of your tribulation of your pain change? Nothing ever changes the outcome. See, that's our own human emotions.
And God warns us about that. Now, God says, ", if you if you are in my word and you stick to what I have taught you and you apply it in every situation, and then you will come out victorious in the end." Okay, this is what He's talking about the world system. okay He has given us a way out of the world system, but we must have knowledge of what he has given us, what he is trying to teach us. And how do we do this? By being in his word, by learning. And what does that take? Your will. Has to be done by you. He does it, he explains it, he teaches it, but it's up to you to go grab it, to go seeking for him. Make sense? Okay.
So, the world system this was Christ's prayer. I want you to remember the prayer in John seventeen. Go back and read that prayer. We went through that prayer, and we went through every single verse, and we explained. And He talks about being of the world, That we are in the world, but we're not of the world because we have a different way of thinking, we have divine thinking, we apply God's word to these situations. But a human viewpoint thinking you soak in it. You are looking for your own way out. You are looking for your own strength. God says, "Rely on my strength." This right here, this is his strength, but we have to put it on. We have to apply that strength. Remember this: we pray for miracles every day. People pray for miracles every single day. The miracle is in here. The more doctrine we take in.
The more we get, the more we absorb. See, this will enlighten. This is light. Pain is darkness. Tribulation is darkness. God's word is light; He brings us out of that darkness, okay? Does that help you? Does that make sense? All right, that's what happens. Okay. So he guides us from this world system, And in the same time, we glorify him once we participate and apply his word. Christ did not pray that the believer would be taken out of the world, but that the Father would safeguard him while he was in the world. There is a reason for us to be here. Okay, this is a test for you and me.
This is the test. We live this one time in this flesh, and God wants to know: are you going to choose Me, or are you going to choose the other guy? Okay. Jesus also prayed that He would be glorified through the believer, and that the believer would share His joy. It is the Father that provides all for the believer through what experiential sanctification. Now, what does that mean? I gave you guys the meaning of that yesterday, and I am going to share that with you again. When he says that through our experiential sanctification, That we glorify Him, right experiential sanctification. This is the meaning : the ongoing life by which the Holy Spirit gradually transform a believer's character.
Thoughts, the way we think, our actions, and what happens in the meantime—we become more like Jesus Christ. That's what happens. That's what He's talking about when we become more like His Son Jesus. When we apply the Word, because that's what Jesus did. Remember when Jesus—he was our example; He did it exactly. Being our example, showing us how to do it, and what did he do it He did it by knowledge, by the word. Okay, and he also had the indwelling of the holy spirit that was the power. We have the exact same thing. Jesus was our example. We have the exact same thing that Jesus had to show is that through this life through your time here now.
I will provide everything that you need to walk this life, to walk in the spirit, to live in the spirit. And finally, Jesus prayed that the believers would be one as the Father and the Son are. See, just like they were united, He prayed that we would be united with Him. And the father, okay. Unity of the believer is accomplished in only one way. There is only one way that you can accomplish this; it's through truth. I'll take questions afterwards, okay? Please, because and why do I say that? Because sometimes it'll just distract my whole way and I don't cover everything. But at the end, please write your questions down if you have any.
And then we will discuss that. Does that make sense? Okay, so that's basically what the Father, the dwelling of the Father, does in us. Now let's get into the teaching of the role of the Son. We're going to open up our Bibles, and we're going to go into Galatians chapter two, verses twenty-nine. Sometimes this thing right here, okay. Galatians chapter two. I am sorry, it's not twenty nine; it's twenty. Galatians two point two There is no twenty nine in Galatians chapter two. Sorry about that, and I am going to read that: Galatians chapter two.
Verse twenty, now this is Paul speaking. Now I want you to see how Paul feels, and I want you to put yourself in the same shoes. I want you to feel what he's feeling and how he thinks he has divine thinking. And watch what he says here. Paul says, "I have been crucified with Christ," just like me and you right now today. He says, "and" It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by what? By faith in the Son of God who loved me. Watch this: Who loved me? Remember, love is everything. Love for Christ—that personal love for Christ—this what Paul had. This what he's describing to us," he said.
God loved me and gave me Himself. He gave Himself up for me and you, and for Paul. You see how Paul describes it : " H ow he, he is now living in the flesh, but by faith okay by Christ living in him." See, now Paul has a purpose. The purpose of him is to glorify the Father. The purpose of Paul is to bring the good news. That's his purpose. Before, you guys know the life of Paul, he was persecuting Christians, he was killing Christians. But now what does he do? Look what he did. He wrote most of the New Testament. He had Christ living in him. His goal, his purpose was to teach us this Christian way of life.
That's what I keep and I keep reinforcing this so you guys understand. This Christian way of life can only be done one way. It's true through truth apply the word. I know that some of us are going through things. This is your answer people pay to go see psychiatrists, people have marital problems. They're looking for. They pay to go see counselors. And this.
This right here is our counsel. This right here is what is the most important thing, But it's up to you ;. It's up to the individual to apply the Word of God. You must seek Him, You must fall in love with Him because once you fall in love with Him, once you know who He is, and we fall in love with Him. We will do anything and everything to go out of our way to please him. This comes natural. It takes work on our end to have and gain the knowledge, but once you follow, that's why it's so important that we know these things: his character, his integrity. Because once we understand what he has done for us, his children.
His children, just like a as a good human father does for his children, we fall in love. And I always use this example and I am going to use it again because t here is new people in here. Okay, you meet your wife, you don't love her right away. You are attracted to maybe the way she looks, maybe there was something about her that attracted to you. But, you really don't fall in love with that woman or man until you really get to know them. No, no. Who they really are, see you can we, You and me can only fall in love with Christ if we know who He is and what He has done for the believer, and our position in Him. See. We're royal family that's position. We have Christ living in us that's position. We live for heaven we have purpose.
That's position. We understand it. That's position. We're royalty, we're co-heirs with Christ, that's our position. I understand that we have a condition going on over here, but if you understand the position, The condition gets the Word of God gets applied to the condition. And then what do we do? He strengthens us. It doesn't go away, but he strengthens you and me so we can bear it. And then what do we do? He gets glorified. It's out. Does that make sense? Right, remember the rebound technique. Remember the fake rest drill. So important to know the word of God. So important to have the knowledge. Okay.
So, at the moment of salvation, every believer becomes indwelt with the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ, for a specific purpose. Christ indwells in the believer in order to make evident His glory in us. This is accomplished in the life of a mature or maturing believer as he exhibits the character of Jesus Christ. See that's what Paul did. That's what Paul's talking about in Galatians, chapter two, verse twenty. It's how we exhibit his character. Our objective as Christians is to allow God the Father to glorify His Son by pouring out what fantastic blessings on us as we move through this spiritual life on our way to maturity, of course, in the Word.
Guess what happens when we do that? We build capacity to receive more blessings. And guess what? It's from His, from God's increases. This increase in capacity sets up. This is such an important word potential of glorifying God. See, it's potential means that it's up to you. You have the potential to do it.
Remember, one of the invisible assets that we talk about these invisible benefits. God says everyone has equal privilege and equal opportunity. Okay, doesn't matter your race, doesn't matter your IQ, doesn't matter where you live, doesn't matter your condition. Every single one of us has the same equal privilege and equal opportunity.
Very important that we understand that. Okay, this increase in capacity sets potential for glorifying God as the indwelling Christ. He provides encouragement, he provides motivation, and of course, he provides the confidence. Let's talk about encouragement first.
Okay, let's go to the book of John. And we're going to go to John, the Gospel of John. We're going to go to chapter fourteen. And we're going to start at verse eighteen, please. The book of John chapter fourteen, starting at verse eighteen. This is Jesus speaking.
I want you to see this. He says, "I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you after a little while." The world would no longer see me, but you will see me because I live and you will live also. See, see how he says over here: "The world would no longer see me, but you see me." Why do we see him? Why, not just that he's inside of us because absolutely he's inside, but we continue. You are here today. See how you are continuing to seek him. You are in him; he is in you. That's why. That's exactly the reason why when he says, "You are in me and I in you," because we continually trying.
To learn, to understand, to grab, to partake this Christian way of life. And, of course, twenty one reads He, who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. Remember love guys I keep referring to love. I want you to see this, and he who loves me will be loved by my Father. And I will love him, and I will disclose myself to him. I will disclose myself to him. Okay, how does he disclose himself to us? Through the Word, Bible doctrine. See you, we me. You cannot fall in love with Christ. If you don't know who He is.
He reveals himself to us is right here in this book. We spend so much time, so much time watching TV, reading books that really don't do anything for us junk, junk. And here we are the most important thing, the only thing that really really matters and we just set it down, close it, put it on the shelf. And not even open it. And God has provided everything for us, this way of life that gives us purpose, happiness, joy, strength, comfort all those things that we need. Let's talk about encouragement. Okay we just we just read it there. Christ indwelling serves as a great encouragement.
For every believer, knowing that we have the same destiny, Watch this : the same destiny as our Savior should give each of us a relaxed mental attitude about the present and the future. See what that does; it gives you that peace, that peace of mind, That you know that you are in the Word of G od ;, you'll be being blessed now. And you know where you are going. You have eternal security. You have, a way of his thinking, divine thinking, not your human viewpoint thinking. Okay. Christ was tempted by Satan and remained sinless by utilizing the power of the holy spirit. We talked about this yesterday. Now if Christ.
Remain sinless by utilizing the power of the Holy Spirit and God. The moment we are saved, also gives us this same power that He had. But there was one big difference, As I mentioned yesterday, : Christ did not have a sinful nature. ; Christ never was out of fellowship. Remember that Christ never had He wasn't born the same way we were born through the man. Okay, we all know what happened there. We all know the story. She was a virgin. Christ came by our Lord and Savior. He did not have a sinful nature. He never sinned once he never lost.
Fellowship, but so beautiful. Remember, God provides a way that we can live in the same system that Christ lived in. What is that? God says, and I encourage you guys all the time: take short of compass. Okay, when you sin, we know when we sin; we know very well when we sin. And sometimes there are sins like arrogance. We don't even realize that we're sinning. You guys realize what arrogance is? Do you realize how we can sin or because of arrogance, we have sinned? Watch how simple it is by not knowing that you are arrogant. When we put our situation, put ourselves above the Word of God, that's arrogance.
You are saying like this, Lord. I know what the Bible says, but that doesn't apply to me. That's the ultimate arrogance. What about the self pity? And then self pity. Oh, but look what I am going through. Oh, but you don't see it; you don't feel the pain. No, He knows. Apply the word rebound faithless drill; He understands self pity is Actually, worse high high arrogance. Right, and how many times let's be honest with ourselves. When I say these things, okay, when I teach these things and discuss and talk about these things, The first thing that should come out of your first thing that you should be thinking is taking inventory of your life. And do I do this? Am I arrogant? Do I do i.
Put myself or my situation before the word of God. See, we don't even realize it. We don't even realize we don't we don't think that that's a sin, But you are actually sinning by putting yourself or your situation before the word of God, not applying His word. Does that make sense? Right, very very important that we understand that.
Now, getting back to the system, I have to say this. Okay, Now we just read that Jesus Christ had the Holy Spirit, and that was the power source that He used. God has given us the rebound technique. Right now we just did it first. John one nine. It says that if we confess our sins, that God is righteous; that He will cleanse us every time we sin. We grieve or quench the Holy Spirit. We talked about that; you guys know what that means. And I always use the example of a husband and wife, And I am going to share that with you again, for the sake of the new people in here. Okay, let's say your husband or your wife, you get into an argument. Okay, what happens? You guys are not communicating now. She's angry at you. You are angry at her. You sleep on the couch. She's on the bed. There is nothing going on there. Okay, but as soon as you or her.
Apologize and say, "Honey, it was my fault. I messed up. I apologize." She gets happy; she's excited. You guys are communicating again. You are on the same level. You are working out the same goal that you have together. See when we sin, we quench or grieve the Holy Spirit. How do we gain that fellowship back? The same way a husband and wife. Gain their fellowship back, we gain it back by exercising First John one nine We confess that sin. God says, "Don't feel guilty about it." He goes, "I know that you are a human being. Don't get condemned." He says, "Confess it. Confess that sin and then I will be back in fellowship with you."
What happens when we're back in fellowship? The Holy Spirit that's in us, that we're talking about God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Now He they are leading you, guiding you through this world to their way. If not if you don't take short accounts and you do not if you do not get back into fellowship, what happens?
We have a sinful nature, okay? We will continue to sin, and then we don't. After a while, it becomes part of us. After a while, it becomes habitual. You don't even think about it anymore. You don't even you don't even give it a second thought. That's why I encourage you guys take short accounts, take short Don't, let your sinful nature take over. That sinful nature is part of you; it's your flesh. That's why God's not interested in our flesh. That's why the flesh goes to the ground; it gets buried. It's what's inside that God is interested in, and He makes us very much aware: "Be careful." Paul talks about it all the time. Remember Paul in chapter Romans, chapter eight, when he says, "I get up every day and I. before I leave my house, in my mind I want to do good," but I find.
Myself doing the wrong things, see he explains what's going on. That's your sinful nature, right? Your sinful nature desires these things. It's the lust in our flesh. It's part of us. It never goes away. Do, you guys know that your sinful nature continually gets worse as time goes on? You can be you can be in this world, but if you allow that sinful nature to take over, it just gets worse.
Take short accounts. I encourage you, short accounts as soon as you sin. And let's say you don't even know, okay? You should always first John one nine before you get into the word. You should always first John one nine before you pray. Okay? You want to be in fellowship when you pray. You want to be in fellowship because when we're in fellowship, the Holy Spirit is leading us and guiding us. What happens? He opens our eyes, he takes the scales off, he opens our ears. We start to understand it better. We start to grasp things in a way that we would our sinful nature will never grasp. It can't. It's giving you other thoughts. Does that make sense? Please, this so important. This so this one of the most important things that we learn to stay in fellowship. Let the Holy Spirit.
That lives in you. It's a gift from God. We receive the Holy Spirit the day of salvation. Do, you know that ninety nine percent of Christians are in fellowship one time and one time only? It's that moment they're saved, the Holy Spirit indwells in them, okay? They're in fellowship and then they never think about it again. I am saved, I am good, that's all that matters, not realizing that soon as you sin. You grieve or quench the Holy Spirit, and you are no longer in fellowship. You are no longer glorifying God because you can't glorify G od ;. You are glorifying your sinful nature. Does that make sense? Okay, very very important that we understand that. Okay, So what happens knowing that we have the same destiny as our Savior should give us.
That relaxed mental attitude about the present and the future. Christ was tempted by sin, and it remained sinless by utilizing what the power of the Holy Spirit. It was this life tested, this life Christ's life it was tested, And he proved it was proven by Christ that became our example for the proper execution of the Christian way of life. Christ proved it to us. He was our example. He said, "Listen, I am doing it. I want you to see. I want you to see my example. I am going to show you guys. I am going to teach you guys." Take what I have taught you and apply it to your life, and you will be successful, you will be victorious as I was. Of course, we know that God was one hundred percent man, one hundred percent divine; we understand that but he.
He walked in his humanity. He still applied Bible doctrine to his life, and of course, he was always never ever was not in fellowship. But look, God knew that Christ had this ; He knew that He didn't have a sinful nature. ; He knew that He was never going to not be in fellowship. So He says, "But my children." They're called heirs with my son, So I am going to provide a way for my children so they can utilize the same power that Christ did or had, so they can do the same thing in their lives now. Do you see that with me? Okay, and that should motivate us and that should encourage us.
Okay. By the act of our will, We can too bring glory to God by allowing the Holy Spirit to produce the character of Jesus Christ in our lives, and of course, what happens? God gets glorified. Okay. Jesus is the standard to which we should aspire as believers. ;. He was our example. There is no place for discouragement to the, To the Christian who is executing the Christian way of life, God has given us all the necessary tools to be successful. What I just explained to you, that is a tool. That's what he's talking about. He's saying, "I will supply, I will give." Because he has given it to us, he gets glorified. If we do it, we boast: "Look what I did! God! I am doing this for you!" Lord look.
I am surrendering to you, Father. I did it. I want you to see that I am doing it, and we can't even do any of it. Does that make sense? Our success as Christians means that Christ will be glorified. Okay, that's He is our encouragement; He is let's talk about the motivation.
The indwelling of Jesus Christ in us. Let's go to Ephesians chapter three. We're going to start at verse fourteen. Oh, you didn't get one? Is that the right one, David? Ephesians chapter three, verse fourteen.
We're going to start at verse fourteen, Ephesians chapter three, verse fourteen. And it reads, "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. " S ix teen : " T hat He would grant you according to the riches of His glory to what? To be strengthened with the power through His Spirit in the inner man." This is what I am talking about, just what I explained. So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, and that you being rooted and grounded in love. Eighteen may be able to comprehend: see what happens when we're in fellowship, That you may be able to comprehend with all saints, the set aside ones :, what is the breadth, the length, the height and the depth.
And to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, you guys please understand this: the love of Christ surpasses knowledge. Fall in love with Christ; it's a beautiful, beautiful thing. Oh, it's so peaceful; it's so peaceful, brother. Please fall in what's the use of having. Knowing this Bible in and out, retaining scripture, boom boom, spit them up. You don't have love. You don't have any love for Christ. What's the knowledge for? You see what I am saying? It's so important that we understand that as we continue.
surpasses knowledge that you may be filled up with the fullness of God. Verse twenty : Now to him, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, See how why is he putting all that? We ask or think right, because we don't know, we're not capable of asking and or thinking what Christ has for us. Okay, according to the power that works within us, what is the power? The Holy Spirit. And how do we retain that power? Being in fellowship. Fellowship, brothers and sisters, is so important. Short it comes: you sin, You confess it ;, you are right back into good standards ;. You are right back communicating. All right, so important short it comes.
And verse twenty one reads, "To him be the glory in the church, and in Jesus or Christ Jesus to all generations. Forever and ever, amen." Motivation. That's what motivates me. That's why I say it over and over again.
You must. It's a priority. You must know him. You must understand, take in the word, and you must fall in love with him. As we go on, watch what happens. Watch how Christ describes it. The indwelling of Christ also provides motivation for the execution of the Christian way of life. Watch this. Our personal love for Jesus Christ should motivate each of us to do our best to bring glory to Him. See what happens: our when we fall in love with Christ, that will motivate us to do our best to bring glory to Him. And how do we bring glory to Him, brothers and sisters? By utilizing what He has given us the tools to live this Christian way of life. Why do we why does that glorify Him?
Because he brought it to us, he gave it to us. We're just tapping in into what he gave us. We're utilizing the tools that he has given us because he has given it to us. He gets glorified because he did the work. You don't do it right, that's what happens. That's why it's so important now watch Watch what happens when you are not motivated, the unmotivated life watch this The unmotivated life, dishonors our savior and brings shame to us at the judgment seat of Christ. Do you guys know what the judgment seat of Christ? Okay, we are all saved. We know that we have eternal security. We know that we have eternal life. We know that, but there is a judgment seat of Christ. You will be in front of Him one day, and then He's going to say, "I'll use myself as an example," Joe.
Here you stand before me. Yes, you believe and trusted what I did on that cross. You are saved, but but Job, I have provided this way for you. I have provided everything that you need. You chose through your own volition, not to execute the Christian way of life that I have given you. You see, I have given you this way just like a father does with his child. I want you to think about this. I have given you this way. This is at the judgment seat of Christ. I have given you this system. You chose not to participate. You were distracted. You took it upon yourself to do it your own way, yes, you are here with me, you are saved. I don't want you guys to get confused by that now because you didn't do it, you become are ashamed.
And you will only realize it when we're there, okay? Now, let's reverse the roles. Joe, you are here. Joe, you participated. Joe, you had purpose. Joe, you brought the word. Joe, you were the light. Joe You were in fellowship, joe I needed you and guided you. Joe Now I have eternal blessings.
I have amazing things for you in heaven. See, that's motivating. That's what's important. You are saved no matter what. Please don't don't get confused. Salvation is already did You believe trustful Christ did on the cross ; He paid for it all, But it's that much more that we have. We have that purpose. We want to be pleased.
I want those blessings. You know what the word says? The word says that those who glorify Him will be rulers of cities. Don't think for one second that there is not that everybody's equal in heaven ; that is definitely not true. We're not all going to be there doing the exact same thing ; those who glorify Him here, that.
When they're at the judgment seat of Christ, and they've done what the Word says, they've applied it those eternal blessings, those amazing blessings. And you know what else the Word says? The Word says that we can even imagine ; the human mind can't grasp these blessings. Can't do it. It's not we don't understand it; our human mind can't go to it. That's what God has in store for us for those who believe for Those who trust him, see trust. Remember what the word "trust" means. Okay, you are putting yourself aside, not doing it my way. I trust in the Lord's way. And you know what else God says? God says, "Test me." Try it. Apply your word, apply my word to your life. Tap into my system ;, you'll see how how what the outcome is going to be in the end.
Because the outcome with him is always, always better than what the outcome on our own is. Here's a quick example. Here's a quick example, and I've used this example before, and I am going to use it again. Okay? Somebody does something to you. Somebody hurts you, hurts your family, whatever it may be. A human viewpoint thinking: A human viewpoint thinking, I want you to see this. A human viewpoint thinking is, you know what? I am going to get back at that guy. I am going to do whatever I have to do to make sure he knows that he has done something to me and he's pissed me off. How many times do we think like this? Let's be honest. When I talk, I want you to take inventory of your life and apply what I am saying. Excuse me, sorry. Okay now God's word says.
Revenge is mine, Joe. Don't worry about that. Let me take care of that situation now. If we take it upon ourselves, we take revenge. Guess what happens? Get in trouble, cops get involved, you might even end up in jail. You see what happens when we our human viewpoint thinking, but when we do it his way, when we apply his word: "Revenge is mine," he takes care of it. Don't worry about it. Let him do it, right? That's how we get that no because we've applied his word, he gets glorified. The Lord's saying, " S ee my child ; he has done exactly he has kept into exactly what I have given him." And because has done that, I will bless him here now. And because has done that, I get the glorification.
Because he did it my way, I he did it. He utilized this system that I have given him. Does that make sense? Total sense, guys. It makes sense. It's so once you understand it and you grasp it, you are like oh my god, how come I never saw this before? Because we've been indoctrinated against this. Satan is the prince of this world. He will do everything and everything possible to distract you from this knowledge, from this wisdom, from these principles because that's what he does. And how does he do it by the world system? I want this beautiful big house. I want this house. I want a three car garage. I want a Mercedes. I want a whatever it may be, but guess what? Now you are working your butt off every single day. You are at work eighty hours a week.
You don't spend any time with him. Yes, oh my god, yeah, you get everything you want here in this world. But in the end, this test of time, you take nothing with you. You haven't glorified him at all. You get zero. You see what I am trying to say? Now God's way is to find thinking: I come first, Joe. Make me your number one priority, Joe. Put me first in your life. And I will give you the desires of your heart. Matter of fact, You don't even know ;, you can't imagine how I am going to direct your paths. We can't we think we know what's best, but God knows what's best. Remember His qualities, remember His essence: He's omniscient, knows all things; He's omnipotent, He has all the power right.
He's veracity truth. Always about truth, he's immutable never changes. He can't look at you Alex or me and say, Alex, you are a nice guy, I know you made a mistake, but I am going to let this one slide. That doesn't fly with God. We talked about that last week. Propitiation, you have to satisfy the wrath of God. We're not going to get into that today. But you see why it's important that we understand and have the knowledge. So important. So important. The judgment seat of Christ, guys, everyone will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. The believers, okay? The unbelievers, it's the white throne judgment, right? White throne judgment. That's the unbelievers; they don't believe in Christ.
But they have deeds. Oh, yeah, that's a whole different thing for believers. We are the believers, the judgment seat of Christ. Did, you utilize the tools that I give you to glorify Me for all your blessings? Did you participate in the system that I have provided? If you did, amazing blessings. If you didn't, shame. You're still saved; shameful. For human beings, there is no greater motivation than love. Guys, love is the strongest force in the universe. The strongest force. We will do anything. I want you to think about it like this :, a child or a father loves that child ;. He will do anything for that child. You love your wife.
I mean, of course, there are limitations, but you will go out of your way to please her. Okay. We are motivated by love. That's why I keep telling you. That's why I keep reinforcing the same thing. That's why I talk about it all the time. God has put this in my heart. God has showed me so many times, Joe, you must show my children that love is the most important thing that They must fall in love with me because once they fall in love with me, they will see. They know what love is because they've experienced it from a father, from a mother, from a brother, a husband, a wife. They know what it means to be in love, because you will go out of your way to please that other person. We must fall in love with Christ, so we can go out of our way to be pleasing to Him.
Okay, it was love that motivated. Watch this :, it was love that motivated the humanity of Jesus Christ to die in our place as the penalty of our sin. See, it was love—the strongest force in the universe—it was love that motivated the humanity. It was love that motivated God the Father to send Christ. It was love for God that. Is our motivation for wanting to please Him? It is love for God that is our motivation for wanting to please Him. Love, love, guys, Love the indwelling of Christ pours out His love in our souls as we advance in our spiritual lives. Knowing and understanding the love of God by means of study—you have to study.
Study to show thyself approved, as the word says. Application: apply the word, and of course, once we do that, we have the motivation for serving Him. Do you guys see this? Has God removed this scales from your eyes? Do you understand why this is so important to fall in love with Him? Caden, you get it, brother. All right, my brother, that's what I want to hear. We must fall in love with Christ. We're going to talk about confidence now. Colossians, let's go to Colossians. Colossians chapter one, we're going to start at verse twenty-five.
And of course, this is Paul speaking again. See, Paul understood this. Paul got it. Paul had this sense of urgency paul had this sense of urgency He says, "I must teach. I have to bring the understanding the mystery that God gave him the knowledge, the understanding." So I can, so he can bring it to his children, me and you today. The believers, please understand this: Colossians chapter one, verse twenty five. And it reads: "And it reads of this church I was made a minister." Okay, this is Paul speaking according to the stewardship from God.
Bestowed on me for what now, guys? See what I am saying here for your benefit, not for his. He got it. He understood it. Do you know that that is your job as Christians? See, he got it. He understood it. He gave it to us. We got it. We understand it. We must share with others so they can get so they can understand, So, this can go from one to another to another. The church continues to grow. ; God continues to be glorified ;. We continue to have purpose. We are one in Christ; we have unity together with Him—important, really important. Where did I leave off?
Twenty five, twenty six. This what I was talking about. That is the mystery. This the mystery, guys, which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to his saints. The word "saints" we all understand what that means, right? Set aside ones to us, the believers, the ones that have been set aside to God. The believers. Okay? This mystery that Paul's talking about. That Jesus Christ, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit indwells in us. That's the mystery. That dwelling of the Holy Spirit gives us the power to live for Him, to live for Him, to be pleasing to Him, to tap into His system. That's the mystery they never had that before we have it today. It's a unique thing to us today.
Understand it, grasp it. Be bold about it. Be bold about it. You see how I stand here before you today? Be bold about it. Don't be ashamed of it, walk it, live it, know it. It's the truth; the word says it. This what I am saying; this glorifying God. But it's through your own volition, brothers and sisters. It's your own. You have to apply it. You can sit here or sit there, listen to my words in one ear, out the other, do nothing with it; it doesn't apply to you. It's up to you, the individual. You can make it happen. My job is to teach it. My job is to explain it. My job.
is to show you that God, Jesus fell in love with you. He's breathing in you, and he wants the world to see him because you are his vessel. He says it: "You are his hands, you are his feet, you are his vessel. " You our job is to bring that light into this really dark world that we live. It's such a dark world. Look, just just listen to the news for an hour, ten minutes. Because wow, it's dark, but it's our responsibility. This the miracle. When I say that this the miracle, guys, you see what it's done for us? It's a miracle. We were living indoctrinated in this cosmic system. ;. We were living that way at one time. The miracle came came into our lives.
It changed you from within. He did it in you. You didn't do it. You don't have the power to do it, but once we are in fellowship and we have this desire, nothing can stop us. Nothing can stop you. But unite, let's be strong in Him, let's understand. Let's show the world who Christ is. Let's show the world our love for Him. That's what's important. That makes all the difference. Motivation, we now we're talking about confidence, right? The word of confidence in the Greek is.
Hypostasis, hypostasis. Thank you, David. The same word used for the hypostatic union of Jesus Christ. The literal meaning is substance, essence, foundation or endurance. Jesus Christ is the very essence of G od. ; He is the foundation of everything that we believe as Christians. That we believe as Christians; His indwelling. Of the believer gives us confidence and the knowledge of Bible doctrine. It is how the believer learns about this confidence. Okay, his indwelling. Of the believer gives us confidence, and the knowledge of Bible doctrine is how the believer learns about this confidence. This is the conference. There can be no confidence in the life.
Or in the one to come, until the knowledge of God's word is gained through persistent study. See, guys, I say the same things over and over again. You cannot please Him without knowing His word. You cannot have confidence in Him; confidence knowing having the knowledge. Confidence in God brings the believer hope. But the word "hope" in scriptures means confident expectations. We covered this in the Greek, right? In the Greek, the word "hope" is elpis. That's the word in the Greek: L E L P S elpis. You know what that means? Confident expectations. If you go into Hebrews chapter eleven, right—the faith chapter—and.
The word "hope" in the English, okay, think about what the word "hope" in English means. Maybe I hope it's going to happen. Maybe it could happen. I am not sure though. Very different in the Greek. In the Greek, it means confident expectations. God has given it assurance, God has stated it ; He says this is what's going to happen. ;, you must have confidence in it that you know that the Word says it. It is true, and it will be. That's see the big difference between English, and the Greek. Confident expectation you know it to be true, it's going to happen. Through the study of an application of Bible doctrine, the believer increases this confidence or confident expectation for this life.
And for eternal state, It is this reality of hope that gives a Christian, a personal sense of destiny. So important, which is knowing who you are, and what you have as a result of being in union with Christ. This is not an emotion. So important guys, it's not a feeling. Oh I feel, no, please. That's not the right thing. Okay.
It's knowledge, it's way of thinking. It's not an emotion, but an absolute truth. See, because when you have emotions come in, It can sway you one way or the other, depending on how you feel that moment. But when you know it's when it's based on truth, there is no way emotions can take over that. Okay? Based on your relationship with him. Or with the indwelling of Him, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our confidence is not in self; see, not in self, but rather in Christ. The indwelling of Jesus Christ is the unique. It's unique to the church age in which we live and should be a point of gratitude to God. Guys, We live in such a time that we need God has done everything for us. ;. He has provided everything.
We must be in gratitude every day. Lord, thank you, Father. You have provided it to me. You have showed it to me. You have made it known, and now, Father, you have opened my eyes, Took the scales off that I am no longer living in the world ; I am in the world. But not of it. I am no longer participating in it because I provide your way of thinking ; I do it your way, not my way.
It is the great Jehovah of Israel who resided in the holy of holies in the Jewish temple, who now resides in you and me. Jesus Christ is the Shekinah glory of the Godhead. Let's talk about Shekinah glory. Let's talk about Shekinah glory. Shekinah glory, do you guys understand or know what the word she kind of means? No, okay. Shekinah means to dwell or to settle in. Okay, Shekinah glory, that's what that means. Now, we're going to go and see right in the Old Testament Shekinah glory Christ Himself revealing Himself to the people in the Old Testament. Okay, remember.
Let's go to first, uh, let's go to the uh Gospel of John real quick. I know I am running so behind, guys. I know, I know. Uh let let me just do this real quick. I know it's late. I am so sorry. It's okay, We forgive you, i get so I get so excited. I get It brings me such joy when I share the word of God with you guys that I can't stop. I can't stop. Chapter one, Gospel of John, and verse fourteen. It says, "And the Word became flesh." Guys, understand this: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." The Shekinah glory means to dwell, to settle in. And we saw His glory. How do we see His glory?
By him working in you, glory as the only begotten from the father, full of grace and full of truth. Full of grace and full of truth. See Christ and the word became flesh and then dwelt among us, the shekinah glory of Christ. Now if we continue, you are going to see that he was in.
The pillar of fire, he was in the cloud by day, pillar of fire by night. That was the Shekinah of God. He walked here with them tabernacle in the tabernacle. But because I am going to have to stop there and we're going to continue, okay? Now I have to say something. If you guys are committed and if you guys want to continue with this, I will be here tomorrow, same time. If you are interested, if you are not, I understand. I get it. But if you tell me Joe, I want to hear the rest of this. I want to learn of You or learn of Me, learn of Christ and I want to learn this study. I will commit myself. I will be here but you have to.
And we'll talk about it after I close this, okay? So, just going to finish up this right tomorrow night. Yes, so let's close in prayer. Father, we are so grateful, So thankful Father that you have provided a way that you have provided everything for your children. Everything, Father, that we could possibly want need. It's such an honor for me, Lord. It's such a privilege, Father, That I get to stand here before my brothers and sisters, your children, father, Your children that I get to stand here and share with them. The love, the understanding father.
That you have opened my eyes to, Lord. I am so grateful, Father. I am so in love with you, Lord. You have made this so perfectly clear, so easy to understand, Father. And we are so thankful for that, Lord. I pray, Father, that everything that was brought today—everything every word spoken—
Was brought in a way that my brothers and sisters retain it, receive it, and apply it. Lord Father, I pray for travel mercies for all of us. Lord, that you watch over us. Father, that you strengthen us. Father, as your promise says: "Lord." We thank you, Father. You sent your son two thousand years ago.
In Calvary, on that cross, Lord, He said it was finished. He did the work. He paid the price. And we got the benefit, Lord. And that I am so grateful for, Father. It was supposed to be us there on that cross, but You volunteered. You were willing. It brought You joy, Lord to take my place to take our place lord.
But you died for the world, paid in full. You said, "Lord, that we're so grateful for Father." It is our duty, Lord, to glorify you. Father, I am so grateful for that. Let everything that was said and done as we continue this study father glorify you in every single way. In Jesus's name we pray. Thank you, Father. Amen.
Okay.
