Promotion Comes from God — Not People (Part 17-18)
PROBLEM SOLVING DEVICES, PART 17-18
This message teaches that God’s timing—not human effort—determines promotion, using Joseph’s life as the central example.
Joseph failed his first two “pit” tests. In the first, he panicked and begged his brothers not to throw him into the pit. In the second, while imprisoned, he relied on people for deliverance instead of trusting God, asking the cupbearer to remember him. Because he failed these tests, God allowed Joseph to remain in suffering until the lesson was learned.
After two additional years in prison, Joseph finally passed the test. When Pharaoh summoned him, Joseph no longer rushed, complained, defended himself, or sought personal advantage. Instead, he waited on God’s timing, prepared himself with dignity, respected authority, and represented God properly. This demonstrated spiritual maturity, humility, and confidence rooted in doctrine.
Joseph credited God alone for interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams, refusing to take personal glory or manipulate the situation for freedom or promotion. His suffering prepared him for leadership, and God elevated him at exactly the right time—not because Joseph was perfect, but because he did not quit.
The message emphasizes that:
· God uses prepared believers, not merely gifted or intellectual ones.
· Unjust suffering is often the training ground for spiritual maturity.
· True growth comes when believers stop blaming others, stop defending themselves, and trust God to vindicate them.
· Promotion comes from God, not people, flattery, or self-advancement.
· A believer must develop a personal sense of destiny and patience to live in God’s plan.
Ultimately, Joseph’s story teaches that waiting on the Lord, applying doctrine under pressure, and honoring God in adversity lead to divine promotion and maximum impact—all according to God’s perfect timing, not ours.
