Pastor McLaughlin examines the contrast between Abel's response of faith and Cain's attempt to approach God through human works. Though these two brothers came from the same parents and environment, their decisions took them in dramatically different directions, emphasizing the importance of volition and personal responsibility before God.
This lesson also explores Cain's anger, the murder of Abel, God's judgment upon Cain, and why this period is known as the Dispensation of Conscience. Through it all, one principle remains constant: while God's administration and responsibilities for mankind differ throughout human history, personal salvation remains by grace through faith.
