The Filling of the Holy Spirit
Part 3
Eternity Past, Age of Gentiles, Age of Israel, Hypostatic Union, Church Age, Tribulation, Millennium, Eternal future
Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Promise Memory Verse
“ And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18
Jesus did many miracles when He lived during the Hypostatic Union. He was always filled with God the Holy Spirit when He did them. Jesus never lost the filling of the Holy Spirit like we do because He never sinned.
This means, He never stole candy from a His brothers or got angry and slammed doors. After His beard was plucked out and people spit on Him, not once did He yell at them or feel sorry for himself. When people made fun of Him while He was dying on the cross paying for our sins, He didn’t call fire down from Heaven to destroy them. Instead, He forgave them and stayed on the cross because He loved them and because He was obeying God the Father’s plan for His life while being filled with God the Holy Spirit.
Mark 6:33-44
Last week we learned how Jesus did a miracle and fed a group five thousand hungry men and their families with five loaves of bread and two fish. There were even twelve baskets of food left over. He also fed their hungry souls with Bible Doctrine. Jesus used God the Holy Spirit’s power not His own. Why didn’t Jesus just do a Walmart pick up and get some groceries? Walmart is God’s blessing for us right now during the Church Age. It didn’t exist during the Hypostatic Union.
Mark 8:1-10
Jesus did another miracle for four thousand men and their families with seven loaves of bread and a few fish and there were seven baskets of food left over. He fed their hungry souls with Bible Doctrine and their hungry bodies with food. Jesus used God the Holy Spirit’s power not His own. Why didn’t Jesus just call a Chinese restaurant and have His disciples drive over and pick it up? Cars are a blessing for us now in the Church Age, but weren’t invented yet when Jesus lived during the Hypostatic Union.
Popcorn poppers need to be plugged in to make crunchy fluffy popcorn. If we put corn kernels into them and don’t turn them on, nothing happens. How would we feel about having a movie night and when we tried to bite into the popcorn, we cracked a tooth on un-popped kernels instead? Only the popcorn that was made with the power of electricity is any good.
God gives us His power to follow His plan for our lives after we rebound. All of the good things that we do while we are filled with the Holy Spirit are called divine good. Divine good is like buttery, crispy popcorn. God loves it when we let Him help us.
When we sin, God wants us to rebound right away. When we don’t rebound then all of the good things we do, are human good. They are just like the un-popped kernels of corn that can crack our teeth. God isn’t pleased when we do things without getting His help.
Divine good is when we listen to Bible Doctrine while filled with God the Holy Spirit. Human good is when we hear Bible Doctrine without rebounding first. The filling of the Holy Spirit is for our souls not our bodies.
Divine good is when we rebound that we’re afraid of getting a bad grade on our math test. When we do this, we are filled with the Holy Spirit and He helps us to remember the promise below.
“Do not fear, for I am with you;” Isaiah 41:10a
