Celebrating the Season of
God’s Indescribable Gift:
Part 3

Eternity Past, Age of Gentiles, Age of Israel, Hypostatic Union, Church Age, Tribulation, Millennium, Eternal Future

Before you begin this Bible study, if you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John
3:16 tells us: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. ”Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, then 1 John 1:9 tells us: “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Promise-Memory Verse
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15
The indescribable gift doesn’t have anything to do with winning the lottery or being given a pile of money. The gift was that the Son of God came down to earth and became a man who remained perfect in every way, so that He could sacrifice Himself for the sins of every person in the world.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
What gift could you get that is better than eternal life? Eternal life is yours to have, by simply believing that the uniquely born Son paid for your sins on the cross.
Last week, we saw a bunch of excited shepherds glorifying and praising God! They had just seen baby Jesus, the newborn king, who would be the Savior of the world! Wow, how fantastic!
Matthew 2:1-12-Period of Time-Hypostatic Union
The Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ had some other visitors as well as the shepherds. They were called the magi and were also known as wise men. They probably came from Persia or Arabia.
They must have studied the Hebrew Scriptures and been astrologers. When they spotted a special star in the east, they knew it would lead them to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now some people think there were three wise men, but we really don’t know how many there were. We also know that they visited the Lord Jesus in a house sometime after Jesus was born.
Matthew 2:10-11a tells us:
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshipped Him.”
Matthew 2:11b tells us:
“Then, opening their treasures, they presented Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Now I believe the Magi had a fantastic idea! Instead of them going to Bethlehem and expecting to find a bunch of gifts under a Christmas tree, they gave our Savior gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Each gift had special meaning.
Gold: meant that Lord Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% man. It also means that He will be the king of the universe and be called “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” forever.
Frankincense: It was a type of incense. It this meant that the Lord Jesus Christ went to God the Father on our behalf and sacrificed Himself to pay for our sins.
Myrrh: It had a strong aroma and would be put on dead bodies to cover up their smell. It symbolized the suffering and death of our Savior on the cross.
Christ’s gift of eternal life tops any other gift you will ever get in your entire life.
He wiped our slate clean before God. He forgave our sins and pardoned us.
This means God the Father was satisfied with the work of our Savior Jesus Christ on the cross.
So, on Christmas day we need to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ!
